The Latest on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

WEDNESDAY, July 18, 2018 -- Illnesses that lack exact testing methods can be difficult to diagnose, treat and live with, both physically and emotionally. Chronic fatigue syndrome, or CFS, is one such disease. Until recently, it was very poorly understood or even acknowledged.

But after 9,000 studies, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) and the U.S. National Institutes of Health have concluded that it's a serious, chronic and complex disease. To stress this, in 2015, the IOM proposed renaming it systemic exertion intolerance disease (SEID).

I seem to recall that years ago a study was done where about half of the people allegedly suffering from CFS had too little sodium in their diet. (They were eating low or no sodium food even though they did not need to reduce their intake for medical reasons).

If there is no medical reason not to do so, try using salt.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
