AncientPages.com - In ancient times, people believed that left-handed were truly evil individuals. There is an evidence of a large number of very ancient tools that have been used by left-handed people and human remains, which showed dominance of the left hand in carrying out daily activities.

Why did ancient people considered left-handed to be evil?
 

All of the early great civilizations of the world, from the ancient Mesopotamians to the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans have been strongly biased towards the right hand. The right hand of the gods was considered to be healing and beneficent, while their left hand was used for curses or inflicting injury. In almost all of these cultures, the right hand was used for ceremonies and for eating, and the right-hand side was always the favored position

In drawings, the Ancient Egyptians depict all the good armies as being right-handed, while their enemies are left-handed.

I'd say clear up into the 60's and 70's. I'm left handed, my mom tried like hell to make me a righty. Other kids my age experienced the same thing.

A fable....but very interesting and very likely.

I have two brothers that were born left handed. The first was forced to be right handed. He is a hot mess. Although he is ambitexterous. The second was allowed to be who he was and is pretty normal.

This actually makes sense, in a sick sort of way. Left handedness I’d more typical in those who are neuro-atypical. My son, on the high functioning end of the autism spectrum, is left handed. He’s my loveable little weirdo. He can match any neurotypical in a game of wits regarding multiple subjects from Ancient Greek mythology to Star Wars. Catch a football? Nah.

I have trained myself to be fairly ambidextrous. I spent about a year in Egypt. Tis a sin to eat with your left hand. And boy, did I sin.
