Giuliani: Even if Trump had shot Comey he couldn't be prosecuted
By Julia Manchester - 06/03/18 06:28 PM EDT

President Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani said in a new interview on Sunday that even if Trump had shot former FBI Director James Comey, he still couldn't have been indicted.

“In no case can he be subpoenaed or indicted,” Giuliani told HuffPost. “I don’t know how you can indict while he’s in office. No matter what it is.”

The former New York City mayor went on to say that impeachment would be the course of action if Trump committed a crime, even in the extreme hypothetical circumstance that he shot Comey.

“If he shot James Comey, he’d be impeached the next day,” Giuliani told HuffPost. “Impeach him, and then you can do whatever you want to do to him.”

My read is that Rudy is right about this one. The remedy for high crimes and misdemeanors by the sitting President is impeachment not criminal indictment.
I adore facts and data and abhor lies and liars.

Ken Starr wrote a 56-page memo in 1998 arguing that the rule of law demands that a president can be indicted —"the "dysfunctionality caused by presidential immunity should be a greater concern for citizens than the constitutional crisis brought on by an indictment. An indicted president is a terrible proposition. But so is the continuation of a presumed felon in office — one who clings to power as a shield from accountability."

Yep and it should stay that way. There is already a process for indicting, convicting, and removing a President. Federal law enforcement agencies have no authority to create a new and separate process as if they are the Fourth branch of govt.
The Republic is lost.

Unfortunate that he uses the shooting example.  We've heard that from Trump before.  Its the I can do anything and I am still god argument.
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

Am I the only one thinking here that Rudy isn't doing Trump any favors by making the comments he is making?   Only question in my mind is....

is that deliberate.... or just stupidity on Rudy's part?

Or prepping the minds of the public to be conditioned to accept these outrageous hypotheticals as a future reality.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

Can I drag his lifeless body through the streets like Gaddafi?  Asking for a friend.

Well, considering the other odd things Rudy has said lately, plus the fact Sessions was appointed on his recommendation, you’d hope it’s the latter.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.
