She seems in much better shape than many women in their 80s, let alone other 96-year-olds, but it's still hard to get around. Quite understandable that she'd skip the event.

Prince Charles to open UK parliament for first time after Queen Elizabeth II forced to miss it over mobility issues

By Lee Brown
May 10, 2022

Prince Charles was due Tuesday to formally open Britain’s Parliament for the first time after his 96-year-old mother, Queen Elizabeth II, was forced to miss the key ceremony for the first time in nearly 60 years.

Charles was set to deliver the Queen’s Speech at the formal opening because his monarch mother was forced to skip it due to “episodic mobility problems,” Buckingham Palace had confirmed Monday.

The palace said that “in consultation with her doctors has reluctantly decided that she will not attend the State Opening of Parliament.”

The queen has only missed two previous state openings during her 70-year reign, in 1959 and 1963, when she was pregnant with sons Andrew and Edward, respectively.

“At Her Majesty’s request, and with the agreement of the relevant authorities, The Prince of Wales will read the queen’s speech on Her Majesty’s behalf,” the palace said of Charles, the 73-year-old heir to the throne.

He will be supported at the grand set-piece ceremony by his eldest son, Prince William, 39, who is also destined to be a future king as second in line to the throne.

Standing ovation! Her Majesty is clapped and cheered as she gets to her feet while watching Royal Windsor Horse Show... three days after pulling out of state opening of Parliament due to her health

By MARTIN ROBINSON, CHIEF REPORTER
13 May 2022

The delighted Queen took home a cup today at her first public appearance since missing the State Opening of Parliament.

Her Majesty was back on her feet and brimming with excitement as she visited the Royal Windsor Horse Show - one of her favourite events of the year - despite ongoing mobility problems.

The 96-year-old monarch, wearing sunglasses, pink lipstick and dressed casually in a white blouse and dark cardigan, looked in good health and spirits as she watched her horse Balmoral Leia compete at the show that marks the beginning of her official Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The fact she has attended the same exact event for 79 consecutive years is quite an achievment in its own right.  I'd say the lady kind of likes horses.

In these last few years, she has reminded me in many ways of my own mother, who died at 89 in 2014. They both lived through WWII and probably could have swapped a few war stories. I doubt the queen had to turn in ration coupons to get a lump of oleo, but still.

The Queen, 96, walks to her seat at Platinum Jubilee celebration and is all smiles as the nation salutes her 70 years of service joined by celebs including Tom Cruise amid pageantry at Windsor Castle
Daily Mail, May 15, 2022

The Queen was all smiles last night as she walked to her seat at the first of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations  -where an all-star lineup including Dame Helen Mirren, Tom Cruise and Katherine Jenkins performed alongside equestrian, military and musical talent from all over the world.

Making her second public appearance in three days, Her Majesty, 96, was greeted with a standing ovation at Windsor Castle and was all smiles as she made her way to her seat in the royal box.

Organisers of the horseback event at Windsor Castle, entitled A Gallop Through History, had always hoped the 96-year-old monarch would attend as their guest of honour. But given her recent mobility issues, nothing was confirmed until last night.

The Queen reached the event by car with an escort from the Household Cavalry as the national anthem was played. She handed her now familiar walking stick to a member of the greeting party as she carefully eased herself down from her Range Rover – in which she was accompanied by her youngest son, Prince Edward.

Cheers from the 5,000-strong crowd rang through the arena as she received a standing ovation.

The elderly monarch smiled broadly at the welcome and had clearly dressed for the occasion in an iced-blue sequinned dress, around which she had draped a grey embellished wrap against the chill.

The Queen then carefully made her way to her seat in the Royal Box - flanked by Simon Brooks-Ward, 45, a Territorial Army officer and friend of the royals - away from the glare of the cameras.

She looks like she’s having a good time.

I’ve seen some really nice souvenirs from this event,  but the majority are above my price range. Especially once you convert dollars from pounds sterling and add postage.

... Queen Elizabeth II couldn’t stop smiling as she cruised in on a luxury golf cart at the Chelsea Flower Show in London after health concerns caused her to miss several royal engagements over the past few months.

The 96-year-old Queen appeared happier than ever as she sat comfortably in the vehicle, manufactured by the Danish brand Garia. The four-seated cruiser, dubbed the “Rolls-Royce” of golf carts, reportedly costs nearly $78,000. ... NY Post

The skin becomes so thin, and easily bruised.
So we have that to look forward to!

Tell me about it.  I was sitting in the dentist chair this afternoon, under the bright light, and I looked at the back of my hands and realized that I was developing old-man skin on my hands.

Meghan Markle makes surprise appearance in Uvalde where she lays bouquet of white roses at memorial honoring 19 kids and two teachers shot dead in elementary school massacre

Meghan Markle on Thursday visited Uvalde, Texas to pay tribute to the victims of the deadly shooting there
She laid a bouquet of white roses at an impromptu memorial outside the Uvalde County Courthouse
The flowers were laid at a cross honoring eight-year-old boy Uziyah Garcia, the youngest victim killed
Markle did not address the press as she visited the memorial surrounded by news crews and cameras
Accompanying her was bodyguard Alberto Alvarez, who once handled protection for Michael Jackson
The trip from her California home was unannounced, and comes as her own father recovers from stroke
Markle was dressed casually, but sported a $7K Cartier Love Bracelet and Princess Diana's $23K Cartier watch

Paying her respects in Texas, Markle was dressed incognito in a simple T shirt, jeans and ballcap, but nevertheless sported on her left wrist a $6,900 Cartier Love Bracelet and Princess Diana's $23,000 Cartier Tank Watch.

It was unclear whether Markle's husband Prince Harry, who lives with her and their two children in Montecito, accompanied her on her journey to Texas, but he was not seen at the memorial with her.

Lilibet, this is the other Lilibet: Queen 'will finally meet Harry and Meghan's daughter for her first birthday party' on Saturday after monarch clears diary because she will be 'unable to go to the Derby'

The Queen is likely to miss her favourite sporting event, the Derby, on Saturday and meet Lillibet instead
It's becoming 'increasingly unlikely' that the Queen can to travel to Epsom as all three of her horses pulled out
Lilibet's first birthday party is set to take place at Frogmore Cottage, where Harry and Meghan will be staying

The Queen will meet the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's daughter Lilibet for the first time at the soon-to-be one-year-old's birthday party during Jubilee celebrations.

The 96-year-old monarch, who Lilibet is named after, is likely to miss her favourite sporting event, the Derby horse races at Epsom, for the little one's birthday.

Since she was born on 4 June 2021, parents Prince Harry and Meghan have only been to the UK once, in a fleeting visit where they made a detour to see Her Majesty while on their way to the Invictus Games in The Hague in April.

Her first birthday is set to be celebrated at Frogmore Cottage next Saturday, just a stone's throw away from Windsor Castle. Princess Eugenie and her family have vacated the Cottage ahead of their arrival'

In their first trip to the UK with Archie and Lilibet, Harry, 37, and Meghan, 40, are going to stay at the property during their four-day trip over to the UK for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Baby Lilibet, was born in California unlike her brother Archie, three, who was born at London's Portland Hospital, a Royal favourite. The Queen met Archie two days after he was born on 6 May 2019.

When Lilibet meets little Lilibet... the picture that might yet heal the royal rift: One of the Queen's favourite photos is of her meeting newborn Archie. Now there's an even more poignant moment approaching, writes RICHARD KAY

By Richard Kay for the Daily Mail

Published: 17:04 EDT, 1 June 2022 | Updated: 17:31 EDT, 1 June 2022

Not for the first time in the Queen’s long reign, all eyes will be on the Buckingham Palace balcony at lunchtime today as the Trooping the Colour ceremony makes way for the ear-splitting roar of an RAF flypast.

Over the years, this tableau has offered an engrossing glimpse of who’s in and who’s out, as once-familiar figures were shuffled to the margins of royal life.

This time, howver, the spectacle is set to be rivalled by another event, with far more riding on the outcome.

I am so disappointed.  I was hoping that the Sussex's wouldn't be in attendance.

Now that they are attending, it will be interesting to see what their kids look like.  I'm curious because not many pictures have been circulated of them.

Platinum Jubilee: Who will be with the Queen on the balcony?

From royal wedding kisses to celebrations at the end of wars, the balcony at Buckingham Palace in London has been the stage for national moments since Queen Victoria first stepped out there in 1851.

For the Platinum Jubilee, the balcony will once again provide the photo frame for a big occasion, with Queen Elizabeth II and 17 other members of the Royal Family due to appear on Thursday after Trooping the Colour.

"There's been a lot of chat about who is going to be there and who is not," says Pauline Maclaran of the Centre for the Study of Modern Monarchy at Royal Holloway, University of London.

Only "working royals" and their children will appear, which excludes the Queen's son Prince Andrew, and her grandson Prince Harry, and his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex....................

When is it? 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET (10 a.m. to 1 a.m. local time)

What is it? Trooping the Color is a ceremonial parade that honors the British sovereign's birthday.

While the queen turned 96 on April 21, her birthday is always celebrated nationally in June — usually on the month's second Saturday.

While celebrations have annually for the past 260 years, this year's Trooping the Color is special because it aligns with the Platinum Jubilee.

During the parade, the queen will travel by horse and carriage out of Buckingham Palace, down the Mall and to the Horses Guard Parade. The event will feature nearly 1,500 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians.

It all culminates in a "balcony moment," with the queen and her family waving from Buckingham Palace.

How to watch: SkyNews will stream the event through their YouTube channel, and it will be covered on NBC News as well as other networks, like ABC.

I sure hope the media doesn't help these two grifters suck all the oxygen out of the events.

She’s been Queen longer or as long as some of us have been alive.

Seriously, how many people who are alive can really say they remember her father  King George VI?

Not many. You would pretty much have to be an octogenarian or older.or at least 75, right?

*Slimmed down Royal Family line-up joined the Queen on Buckingham Palace balcony for Trooping the Colour

*Just 17 working royals were invited, compared to the 40 who were present last time event was held in 2019

*Queen made the decision to include only working royals in order to avoid awkwardness over Prince Andrew

*Also avoided any issues around Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex, who watched Trooping the Colour
