Townhall
Timothy Meads
May 11, 2018

Excerpt:

Meadows added in a tweet, “This investigation has gone on for nearly a year with no evidence of any collusion. Americans deserve to know how and where the Mueller team is using their tax dollars--and how much of the investigation is truly about "collusion" vs. political targeting.

Sounds like a VERY good idea.

Can we get an inspector general to oversee this?

I'll settle for the GAO audit.

The taxpayers should certainly know how much this is costing, but then what?  The 'scope' of the investigation is pretty broad as there were really no parameters set and that's why this investigation just keeps going.  It is an ongoing investigation that unless somehow someone finds a way to end it, I see it continuing as long as Trump is President.  As for budget, I highly doubt one was set. So auditing the cost seems futile.

Apparently, the budget offered by the Trump Administration earlier this year budgeted $10M per year for the Mueller investigation:

The White House budget projects that special counsel Robert Mueller's team will keep spending at its current rate of about $10 million per year in the next fiscal year.

Thanks for the info -- so obviously there was a budget offered.  Note the reference to per year.  So it's been taken into consideration that this investigation will be on going.

According to the article $7M was already spent ... so they have another $3M to go for this year.

Some of the costs could be off budget. Access to FBI/DOJ resources.
