No. It will just try to reload the updates again...
If you haven't tried it yet, try a full nuke and pave. On install, have latest update chipset from the cpu manufacturer, and from the video manufacturer locally available and install them immediately, before any MS updates occur.
If no joy, take it to a reliable computer tech who can determine the problem.
