Anne Frank’s American pen palMichele HerrmannAlthough it was only a one-time letter exchange between two girls – one from a farm town in Iowa and the other living in Amsterdam – the surviving correspondence speaks volumes.Because one of those pen pals was Anne Frank.Danville, a city in south-eastern Iowa just over 10 miles from the Mississippi River, is where the story of this brief correspondence began. Now, it is being retold inside the Danville Station, a museum and cultural centre, through a permanent exhibit that will open on 16 April 2018.Anne mentioned in her letter that she collected postcards, and included a postcard of Amsterdam (Credit: Photopat vintage/Alamy)Read more at: http://www.bbc.com/travel/story/20180415-anne-franks-american-pen-pal
I visited the Anne Frank House, when I was in Amsterdam. Read the book, twice.
I couldn't bring myself to do it. I saw the Van Gogh museum and walked down the streets @Frank Cannon posted. Wow! What was amazing was most of the women were older, overweight and plain.
