Seattle is so wracked by their wealth, success, and their so called 'White Privilege' that they have decided to do the only honorable thing. They hope that this will bring their city more in line with the rest of the world, like Mexico City and Nairobi Kenya.
Seattle politicians seem to believe that the companies in their city should pay for the privilege of being there. This is ironic considering how many cities all over the country are offering tax breaks and other perks for companies to move to them.
It is basic cost/benefit analysis. It is the businesses who will pay the price twofold. First, they will have to increase worker pay to make it profitable for the workers to actually get to work. Second, it will decrease consumer traffic downtown thereby reducing profits. So it is a double whammy. Seattle businesses will have increasing employee expenses combined with decreasing profits. This equation always equals...time to relocate.
Nobody ever accused a Liberal of being intelligent, but this really is inconceivable even for Liberal morons. It is the exact opposite of what they should be doing to grow their city.
