'Palm Sunday Massacre' gunman who killed 10 people in 1984 discreetly released from prison

The gunman behind the 1984 “Palm Sunday Massacre” that left 10 people dead and was considered one of New York City’s largest mass shootings in decades was quietly released from prison in January.

Christopher Thomas, 68, was released from Shawangunk Correctional Facility on Jan. 5 and is believed to be residing in Queens, NY, the New York Post reported. He was released after serving about two-thirds of his 50-year maximum sentence, good behavior and fulfilling other criteria, a New York State Department of Corrections spokesperson said.

“The parole board did not let him out,” the spokesperson said. “He had five appearances before the parole board and was denied every time. He doesn’t need board approval because he served two-thirds.”

They need to change a law that allows someone who committed his crime out for time served.

You kill 10 people and you don't get a LIFE sentence? The Manson defendants must be scratching their heads over this one.

It's New York State, they won't do that.

This is but one more instance that illustrates why the death penalty should be mandated for such crimes.

It should be the ONLY prescribed penalty under law.
No mitigating circumstances.
No nothing.

My proposed Constitutional Amendment on the death penalty:
"This Constitution of The United States recognizes the capital punishment to be appropriate punishment pursuant to the due process of law.
Neither the Congress of the United States, nor the legislatures of the Several States shall pass legislation to prohibit it.
No Court of The United States nor any Court of the Several States may overrule this amendment.
No person in the United States, nor in the several States, shall face such punishment unless above the age of twelve years and six months."

They've never released the  numers of people who have been murdered by paroled or escaped killers. Of course not, that would destroy the argument for banning capital punishment.
But the numbers of innocent people murdered by released or escaped murderers is in the hundreds or thousands.  Probably the latter.  That doesn't count prison personnel who have been killed by violent inmates.  It's difficult to find a number even with the internet as a search tool.
