John Kasich warns Republicans: Young voters coming for you in November if gun control doesn't get done
by Kyle Feldscher
 | March 25, 2018 10:30 AM

Ohio Gov. John Kasich said Republican lawmakers need to beware of a wave of young voters coming out against them in November if no real action on gun control is taken.

Kasich said on CNN’s “State of the Union” that protests such as the March For Our Lives on Saturday show young Democrats are motivated to go to the polls in November. Since that’s a voting constituency that rarely comes out to vote in midterm elections, trouble could be brewing for the GOP, Kasich said.

“We've already seen what the public thinks. We saw an election in Pennsylvania where the people are basically saying they can't stand what's happening in Washington. And, yeah, I really do believe that,” Kasich said when asked if Republicans should be worried.

These punks, assuming they are old enough to vote, will vote Democrat anyway.  The national march was funded by the Democrats.  Plus they were indoctrinated by teachers who tell them that Republicans are evil nd the Democrats are the good guys.  If you have that mantra pounded into your head for 12 or so years, you are brainwashed enough to believe it.  So this age group is lost anyway.

The ones Republicans should be concerned about are us seasoned voters who have had enough of their lies and broken promises and who may either stay home or vote for someone else.

I keep telling liberals that are into "taking the guns away" that they really haven't learned the lesson of Parkland. The lesson they should have learned was the police usually don't get there until after the event. It's better to have a chance then no chance at all.

I noticed nobody in the media asked any of these young socialists in training if the Jews in 1940's Germany wished they had a gun.

This is rather amusing from someone who has been pretty good with Ohio gun laws, because if he wasn’t, he’d get thrown out on his ass.

Actually,  I don't think it is November that the GOP needs to worry about, they are likely toast anyway....

The fact is that we are seeing a cultural shift much like occurred in the mid 60's during Vietnam. The old farts then, like the old farts now mocked the kids, discounted the demonstrations, and stuck their heads in the sand.

The undeniable fact that those demonstrations pushed the 60's politicians from support of our commitment in Vietnam to defeat. Flush with success those same kids grew up to dominate the media, the entertainment industry, all levels of the Federal Government, and most business's today.

I've got young kids, even though I'm an old guy and I can't always figure out how they are thinking, but as much as the old guy in me says no, they are going to grow up to be what I would consider anti-gun...and their peers will consider them gun nuts and potentially dangerous..

During the 60's the "establishment" failed to articulate a rational reason for our involvement in Vietnam. Today, with even with more at stake many on the right assume that the kids would defend the 2nd without a reasonable explanation why. There is an assumption they know what the 2nd is, but in fact most probably have not even heard of the document called the Constitution.

In my experience, many kids view those protecting the 2nd as scared, demented old white guys sitting on a pile of guns or scared young serial killers in their schools sitting on their aforementioned parents pile of guns...

Obviously, both characterizations are false but that does not alter the popular perception.

I explain to my kids that gun ownership is a right guaranteed under the Constitution of the United States, and said Constitution was inspired by God. The individual, no matter how strong his faith, must also have the means to protect themselves from an Government of the unrighteous.

I also explain to them that the right to bear arms does not mean they have to have a firearm, they have the "choice" but the right gives them the ability to be armed if they ever think its necessary..its up to them.

In short, we are in danger of losing the 2nd when our generation dies off. Some will make fun of the kids but a real change is happening. The old farts can sit back and mock the kids like most of our parents/grandparents did when we grew up during the Vietnam era or we can make logical reasoned arguments the kids will accept.. surprisingly they are not as dumb as they look....

I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

I agree.  Because of the 'liberal' indoctrination in our schools we are in jeopardy of losing our 2A rights along with our country.  I believe this is what the GOP has been missing for quite some time.  They have allowed the choke hold that the liberals have on our schools and youth in our society and they have ignored and sneered at this demographic forgetting that our youth are up and coming voters.  Take a look at the graph (link below) -- the younger voters clearly opted to vote DEM. It's not until we reach voters 45 and older that they tended to vote GOP.  Also consider that by 2019 millennials will outnumber the baby boomer generation.

I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

I in no way was implying that I agree that Kasich is correct on gun control, only that I agree that the GOP needs to take into consideration millennials.  They have been brainwashed by the liberal schools system and a concentrated effort needs to be made to re-educate that demographic.
