Jennifer Lawrence is set to take a break from acting.

“Hunger Games” star Lawrence revealed her plans while promoting her latest movie “Red Sparrow,” sharing with Entertainment Tonight her ambitions to “fix” democracy in America while she takes a Hollywood hiatus.

“I’m going to take the next year off,” Lawrence outlined. “I’m going to be working with this organization as a part of (anti-corruption organization) Represent.US… trying to get young people engaged politically on a local level.

“It doesn’t have anything to do with partisan (politics). It’s just anti-corruption and stuff trying to pass state by state laws that can help prevent corruption, fix our democracy.”

Her decision isn’t out of the ordinary for the Oscar winner, who has taken more of a political standpoint in recent years. –

No,she is actually pretty smart. The problem is she has been living in the Hollywood/NYC "bubble" ever since her first starring role when she was around 13,and only associates with airheads.

You and I would be seem to be idiots if we had lived the life she has lived the last 10 years or so.

I hate to use the word "unfortunately" here about a woman in her early 20's that has been THE star of a series of major movies and probably worth 100 million or so by now,but it still fits. If everyone you know is an idiot,you tend to sound like an idiot too because idiocy is what you think is the normal for everyone.

And of course there is also the factor that almost nobody ever tries to tell somebody with upteen millions that they are wrong because that ain't no way to scam money out of them.

Ok,so you are just "regular wrong" and not "creepy wrong".

She is one of the best actresses working today. The first time I saw here in anything I had no idea who she was,but she flat stole the movie from everyone else. Go on the web and find and watch "Winter's Bone" if you want to see some good acting by a 20  year old.

She got the star role in the "Hunger Games"  franchises a year later,and is making stoopid money now,and it seems like everyone in Hollywood is eaten up with jealousy because she is now the highest paid actress in the world. Guess  what? If her acting didn't pull in ticket sales and making money for the producers,she wouldn't be getting that money.

She was working as an actress in Hollywood movies. Would YOU have hung around to be a uber rarefied high school diploma when you were already working and earning 50 k a year or so,and have a future?

Granted,she did miss out on some of the "neat to be a kid" things and has a warped sense of reality when it comes to the lives on regular people because of her career,but it beats the hell out of pouring coffee at a donut shop when you're 30 and can't remember which box you stored the HS diploma in/

Yes,but in THIS particular case that we are talking about,Jennifer Lawrence became a major movie star BECAUSE she had enough faith in her dream to quit high school and accept a part in a movie. Now she is probably worth in the neighborhood of 100 million bucks. Somehow,I don't think we are ever going to see her standing in a welfare line.

Different issues.  I have no idea why you are defending a high school diploma like it is some sort of accomplishment. All you have to do to obtain one is maintain a pulse and show up at school for 12 years. There are people graduating from high school every year that can't read or write. They don't know squat,and at least half of that they have been taught is wrong. Damn near 100 percent wrong if you are talking about history. Public schools have gone from teaching to indoctrination.

BTW,you still aren't getting it. Although they are related,it's more about being successful in your chosen career field than it is money. It just so  happens that the field she chose pays an insane amount of money to  those who are successful and a pittance to those who aren't. She showed up at the DAPL Protests where the people who were there to hold up the pipeline to get money for the tribe Save the Water! left behind over 720 semi loads of trash and debris, a half dozen puppies, and a dead human (in the river, of course), among other things...

Tells me all I need to know.

Besides, if one person is 'fixing' a democracy, doesn't that kinda negate everyone else's votes?
