OK, I see I have to post another reminder this is not a gun control thread, no matter how clever some posters think they are being by chewing it around the edges.

There will be lots of gun control threads today as the usual Democrat suspects start spouting off on the subject, and that is where the conversation is appropriate.

The damned thread is 12 pages and going....and you show up on this thread to chastise people about the conversation drifting toward gun control?  .....when that's all people are talking about this morning since the event?

Baltimore and Chicago have high rates of gun violence in part because any yo-yo who wants to can buy a gun in one of the permissive states and bring it across state lines and into the city.  Their gun control laws are ineffective in large part because they cannot control the importation of guns into the city from out of state.

You need a better analogy.

And why do the adjecent permissive states not have the same problem?  Because there the victim is far more likely to defend themselves.

The overly restrictive gun control allows more gun violence and less gun violence prevention.

There is a reason these mass-murders don't show up at the police station or a gun show to commit violence.

Yes, I saw her say that. It's a nice gesture. I'm not really sure what to make of it. It's the decent thing to do to save the families the expenses.

Also, I heard about that coach last night too. One of those shot was the football coach.

The FBI knew about him five months ago. The school authorities knew about him, but didn't bother retaining an armed guard to stop him from entering the campus.

You can't ignore the demands of the community to do something about the current madness.  The task of the responsible conservative is to make sure the coming restrictions are reasonable and efficacious, and consistent with the natural right of self defense protected by the Second Amendment.   But forcing one's head firmly in the sand won't stop the wind from blowing.   And, as Oceander rightly says, it will just allow the left to rule the field.

I'd like to know if the school reported their suspicions and actions to protect students to the authorities --- police, FBI!!
