Killer freeze warnings for Deep South

Temperatures below 15 degrees F. (-9 C) expected.

“A Hard Freeze Warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely,” warns the National Weather Service. “These conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.”

Note the hard freeze warnings across the deep southern states, in purple.

Temps at or below 15 degrees F. (-9 C) forecast in some areas, with wind chills dropping to as low as -5F (-20.5C).

Couple of -17's for lows this week. Nearly -30 in the other corner of Iowa.

As much as you hate it though, it does kill alot of undesireable critters.

I'm thinking of adding this to the barn for the animals.  Been a pain dealing with cleaning out the water tubs in freezing water after we drained the piping.

Yes, I sure didn't think it was necessary.  The well-house has a heat lamp in it, but there's a tiny stretch of underground pipe that just got too cold.
