Never saw the TV show, apparently a suicide.

According to Twitter he was about to be charged with Kiddie porn possession and a sexual offender.

Maybe twitter is not a good source, in this instance.

Per wiki:

"On September 30, 2017, he pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, subsequently registering as a sex offender and entering a treatment program, among other conditions. He also faced four to seven years in jail.[27] The guilty plea was formalized December 18, 2017.[28]

That's the second star of that show to die before 40 (Cory Montieth is the other; he died a while back, age 31).

Lea Michele had better be careful.

Cuba: Fidel Castro's son 'takes own life'
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-42913492

The 68-year-old son of Cuban revolutionary Fidel Castro, Fidel Ángel Castro Díaz-Balart, has died in Havana after taking his own life, according to Cuba's state media.

He was found on Thursday morning and is said to have suffered from depression.

Popularly known as "Fidelito", he was the first-born son of the former president, who died in November 2016.

Castro Díaz-Balart worked as a nuclear physicist having trained in the former Soviet Union.

As with all things leftist, I'm always skeptical when family members of leaders of those countries 'commit suicide' or have accidents. He may not even have had ambitions of power, but that wouldn't stop a rival from making sure, or sending a message to other family members that may.

Well, I remember when communist leaders in the old Soviet Union died from "a bad cold."  Wouldn't trust the official government statement as to the cause and manner of death.

Well, since he died in 1891, I would have thought you might have already done that multiple times.

Have you?

Just curious.

Yeah........ both on the inside and the out.

It wouldn't be particularly surprising if his suicide was "assisted."

There probably were leftists saying that very thing or close enough about Mr. Reagan.

Me, when I learn of such deaths as Castro pere and Castro fils, I simply remember an observation by Clarence Darrow: I have never
wished a man dead, but I have read a great many obituaries with a great deal of pleasure.

An obituary I do not read with a great deal of pleasure . . . RIP Dennis Edwards, the one-time Contours singer who took over the
co-lead spot from David Ruffin in the Temptations, starting with . . .

The Temptations, "Cloud Nine"

! No longer available

Quote
Legendary Temptations singer Dennis Edwards, of Florissant, dies at 74

Grammy-winning singer Dennis Edwards, an unmistakable voice during legendary act the Temptations’ heyday, died Thursday night (Feb. 1) of complications from meningitis, confirms his wife of eighteen years, Brenda Edwards.

Mr. Edwards, who lived in Florissant, died in a hospital in Chicago, and had been in and out of hospitals since he was diagnosed May 2017. He would have been 75 on Saturday (Feb. 3).

The Temptations, "I Can't Get Next to You"

! No longer available

The Temptations, "Ball of Confusion"

! No longer available

The legend is that this next one cut too close to home for Edwards---his own father (who wasn't quite like the protagonist of this song) died on the third of October, and even changing
the month to September in the lyric didn't stop it from affecting him deeply . . .

The Temptations, "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone"

! No longer available

Jon Huntsman Sr., styrofoam tycoon, dies at 80

Huntsman began his career working at an egg company. Born in poverty in Idaho, he married into a wealthy, well-connected family after attending college. As the story goes, when the company was sustaining losses because of poor packaging, Huntsman contacted Dow Chemical, the maker of Styrofoam, and conceived the modern egg carton. In the 1970s, he founded his own company, the first incarnation of the Huntsman Corporation, which likewise specialized in plastic and foam products (and became somewhat infamous for the McDonald's burger containers that were popular through the 1980s until environmentalists raised a stink); after selling that company, he established another one with the same name in the early 1980s. With a net value of over $9 billion, Huntsman Corporation survives today, and he served as chairman until his death.

As is typical of members of the Mormon faith, Huntsman had a large family. Of his nine children, his son Peter now serves as President of the Huntsman Corporation, and his other son Jon Jr., became a prominent politician, currently serving as the U.S. ambassador to Russia. The elder Huntsman himself briefly ran for governor of Utah in 1988, but dropped out before the primary election.

Thanks for the obit on Dennis Edwards.  The Temptations were my favorite soul group growing up.  Edwards came along during the group's psychedelic period and he was really good.  IMO he was even better than David Ruffin and Ruffin was no slouch.

I guess the only original member left is Otis Williams.

Rest in peace, Mr. Edwards.

When Edwards came in that began the Temptations' psychedelic soul period. They canned David Ruffin right before Norman Whitfield handed them "Cloud Nine." And you're right about Otis Williams, sadly enough.

Um....I thought the purpose of this thread was to acknowledge the passing of, and pay homage to, important people who have passed on.  If you two want to fight between yourselves, there is the Message feature.  Or start a new thread, if you want to fight publicly.

This thread should be free of political controversy and personal animosity.  Those who engage in these things show great disrespect for the dead.

Well you can feel free to mourn over the loss of Castro, Chavez and Hitler if it makes you feel better about yourself. I just as soon see their bodies strung up Il Duce style and defiled. That also goes for any of their cohorts in these shithole countries which this dead piece of shit is one.

Well you can feel free to mourn over the loss of Castro, Chavez and Hitler if it makes you feel better about yourself. I just as soon see their bodies strung up Il Duce style and defiled. That also goes for any of their cohorts in these shithole countries which this dead piece of shit is one.

I've seen a lot of dumb things said here.  Hell, I've said some of them myself.  But what you've said here is in the top 3 of dumb things said.  You could make the smart choice and decide to stick to this thread topic from here on out.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Edwin Jackson, American football player, dies at 26

Jackson was a member of the Indianapolis Colts, seeing extensive playing time in the 2016 season as a linebacker. He was struck dead by an unlicensed driver, who was suspected to be intoxicated and (by some reports) an illegal alien.

Been there.  Done that.  But for the grace of God go I.  Not the football part, but being hit by an unlicensed, uninsured, "no hablo ingles" individual.

RIP.

Actor John Mahoney dies at 77

The English-born character actor came to the United States as a young adult after his sister married an American after World War II and sponsored his trip; he eventually became a U.S. citizen by joining the armed forces.

Dissatisfaction with his career in his late 30s led him to pursue acting. After stints on Broadway, he arrived in Hollywood in the late 1980s. He was best-known as Martin Crane, the father of the title character in the hit sitcom Frasier; the role took advantage of the fact that he looked and could act about a decade older than his actual age at the time. He spent most of the rest of his life in Illinois, the state where he had spent most of his early adult life.

Mahoney, who never married but was otherwise secretive in regard to his personal life, died in hospice care.
