Meteorologist Joe Bastardi warned of a cold snap gripping the Eastern US many weeks ago, in October, at his Weatherbell Analytics site, which I visit almost daily.
 

Today it’s all over the news: The Great Freeze of 2017 is smashing through the entire North American East, bringing with it a wave of record temperatures.

Cold records to sweep across continent

Dr. Ryan Maue posted at Twitter 2 days ago:

    Many Daytime Record Low Maximums will be set on Dec 31 and Jan 1 for New Year’s celebrations — that means the afternoon high temperature for the day is really cold.”

Just saw weather report for greater Dallas/Fort Worth area and north of here.  Numerous wrecks due to ice at Gainesville, Texas, up 35N, which is close to the Oklahoma border.

It is 22 here, 30 miles north of Dallas, with freezing drizzle falling.  It will be 18-19 tomorrow morning WITH A COLD FRONT COMING IN.  What?  A cold front?  Isn't that what we have now?
It was a certified weather guy who said this.  Surely, he is wrong.

I also think Joe Bastardi is the best weather man alive.

I don't, either.  It will be 18 or 19 tonight sans wind chill.  That is cold enough.

Once again it sucks to be in SoCal, we will be suffering with terrible overnight lows of 49 degrees! I may need to break out a blanket. The downside of course is that we are having a dry winter again which will partially negate last years excellent rain and snow pack. Liberals and Gaia worshipers will blame this on anthropomorphic global warming or climate change, I on the other hand call it par for the course of  living in a desert.
