It boggles my mind that normally bright conservatives do not have at least Shrillery's number on the child sex abuse stuff.
Thanks for your reply to my reply. I'm sorry that my reply took so long.

I would say that a lot of "normally bright conservatives" are nowhere near as bright as they think they are and, by the same token, perhaps. nowhere near as bright as they might appear to us to be. (If they fool themselves, they might very well fool us, too.)
I have run across a few moderately bright guys and gals on TBR, and a very few whom I would rate as
probably very bright indeed. Again, that ranking by my humble opinion includes a very small number. On the other hand, my survey is by no means infallible. Some of the seemingly very bright folks on TBR could very well be rather dull folks after all; others might prove to be smarter than I thought they were.
(Heck, it's especially hard to get to know people very well based on nothing more than a few interactions on an internet forum. For that matter, I suspect that there are a lot of TBR folks who would write off both of us as not exactly high-order geniuses. Ah, but they don't really know us, do they? [LOL].)

In all seriousness, mortals are subject to all sorts of deceptions. But any really, really bright person lives continually in the awareness of that--which open-minded, spiritually careful attitude makes him or her pretty hard to fool for very long. The really bright person will rather quickly see the truth when he is confronted with it. When a seemingly bright person can only scoff at our little thread, then I just write them off as not as bright, not as illuminated as they think they are.
This is a monumentally serious thread on an important American website. We don't have time to grieve over intellectually stubborn, proud dullards masquerading as sages.
(We'll talk more about Revelation 20 later, my dear brother.
