What causes blisters on the feet?

Blisters are fluid-filled pockets that develop in the top layer of the skin in response to injury or infection. Blisters usually occur over damaged areas to cushion them from further harm.
Most blisters develop where the outermost layer of skin is very thick, such as on the hands and feet.
