 Actor Kevin Spacey said that he has "loved and had romantic encounters with men" and that he chooses "now to live as a gay man," after being accused of a sexual advance on a 14-year-old.

Spacey's remarks came in a tweet posted on Sunday night after "Star Trek: Discovery” star Anthony Rapp alleged that Spacey climbed on top of him in bed when he was just 14 years old.

"I have a lot of respect and admiration for Anthony Rapp as an actor. I'm beyond horrified to hear this story," Spacey said. "I honestly do not remember the encounter ... But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior ..."

Celebrities and others were swift and blistering in their condemnation of actor Kevin Spacey’s Twitter apology to fellow actor Anthony Rapp early Monday.

Spacey, 58, issued the statement after a BuzzFeed News report alleged that the “House of Cards” star had sexually harassed Rapp when he was just 14. In his statement, Spacey did not deny the incident but said he could “not remember the encounter.”

Kevin Spacey apologised on Sunday to fellow actor Anthony Rapp for a 1986 incident in which Rapp said Spacey made a sexual advance to him when Rapp was only 14.

Spacey said in a post on Twitter he was horrified to hear Rapp's story of the encounter, which he said he did not remember. He wrote that he owed Rapp a "sincere apology" for what he said would have been "deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour."

For me, the old format in the US whereby series ran on indefinitely is losing out, to the more interesting European format.

IOW fewer episodes, over fewer seasons.  House of Cards has run its course, Stacey notwithstanding.

The original UK show consisted of 12 episodes over 3 seasons. Over there, seasons are called series'. The late Ian Richardson was great as the antagonist.

The US series consists, thus far, of 5 seasons and 65 episodes. US TV believes in milking a series to death. I've never seen an episode but I assume that Kevin Spacey has been superb. He usually is.

I hope that Kevin Spacey does not become the victim of a witch hunt.
