Are you easily angered, often upset or frequently consumed by fury – over who knows what? Of course your blood isn’t literally boiling, but chronic anger could have a damaging impact on not only your relationships and personal life, but also your overall well-being.

I have a family member who is constantly angry and constantly depressed, and he self-medicates with alcohol. It's almost surprising he's lived this long (age 65).

Anger is self-destructive.

When Obama was elected, I was furious.  I was mad at what he was doing, his lies, his socialism, his racism.....ALL of it.

After a few months I realized that God didn't want me to be angry all the time, and that being angry for four (eight! Yikes!) years was going to hurt no one but me.

So I prayed a lot, and stopped being angry all the time, and it was good.

I've had to do the same since Trump's nomination.  It won't help anything if I stay angry at the stupid American people.


So I'm not. 

God is still in control.  Jesus is still Lord.  And my life is pretty swell right now in spite of the mess America is in.

Anger and depression quite often go hand in hand. They gnaw at the soul like termites, laying waste to everything on which they feed, thoughtlessly ruining their own means of sustenance. 

Anger is easy, but engenders only sadness in the end. Forgiveness is hard, but it results in contentment.

No offense, but considering the religious tone of your post, and that's fine...but "righteous anger" I was told by some religious folks, was allowable and even helpful when dealing with a problem.

But whatever works best for ya, then I hope it works well for ya.

Ah,  but "righteous indignation" is a very, very different thing than seething and stewing in personal anger and resentment.

I am still angry (righteous, I believe) that the American people elected two unqualified men in a row, and two liberals to boot, but I'm not letting it affect my personal life.

I think you understand what I said, and what I'm saying.

(btw, what's with the "ya" silliness??  Are you channeling Sarah Palin, or do you always talk this funny?)

Of course do what's best for you. But frankly, I think it's healthy to get the anger out. In case you didn't know, the classic description of depression is anger turned inward.

I think a forum such as TBR, is a great way to get the anger out, post our viewpoints, and hopefully make a difference towards making the US a better place for us and our families to live.

Don't worry about me.  I was born with a ferocious temper, and there is NO danger that it will ever turn inward.   I don't have that kind of control.

But God does, and I gave my temper to Him decades ago.

Instead of being angry at the very bad choices the American people are making, in morals, in ethics, in politics, in pretty much everything, I have made a conscious decision that these are not things that I need to carry with me and let them weigh me down.  I can give it all to the Lord, and not let it eat me up inside.
