Trump Administration Set to Roll Back Birth Control Mandate
NY Times, Oct 5, 2017, Robert Pear

The Trump administration is poised to roll back the federal requirement for employers to include birth control coverage in their health insurance plans, vastly expanding exemptions for those that cite moral or religious objections.

The new rules, which could be issued as soon as Friday, fulfill a campaign promise by President Trump and are sure to touch off a round of lawsuits on the issue.

More than 55 million women have access to birth control without co-payments because of the contraceptive coverage mandate, according to a study commissioned by the Obama administration. Under the new regulations, hundreds of thousands of women could lose birth control benefits they now receive at no cost under the Affordable Care Act.

This is a good move but the president, any President shouldn't be  put this in place or take it away.

Of all the things to just decide to get rid of, this seems like an odd first choice.

I agree, however, the SCOTUS should have never ruled that Bammycare was constitutional in the first place.

It's not when I suspect this is in relation to freedom of religion, not having to pay for what is, against some people's morals, as in Wheaton College, Hobby Lobby, Little Sisters of the Poor and so on.

Trump administration to scale back Obamacare birth control mandate
by Kimberly Leonard | Oct 6, 2017, 9:43 AM

The Trump administration is expected to announce Friday that it will exempt employers from providing insurance coverage for contraception if it conflicts with their religious or moral beliefs, scaling back a rule created under the Obama administration.

The rule was an outgrowth of Obamacare, which is written to give discretion to the Department of Health and Human Services to issue rules about what constitutes women's preventive care, meaning that different administrations can reverse or change the rules.

The Obama administration had issued rules saying that employers must cover all forms of contraception, from birth control pills to emergency contraception, without any copay to patients. The obligation had exemptions for houses of worship but not for companies that had closely held religious beliefs. More than 55 million women relied on the provision, the Obama administration had said.

Except that publicly traded companies, like Hobby Lobby, are not included in the "roll back".

I think its a poor choice.  We do after all want to ban abortion.   Don't we want women to be responsible and use birth control?  I guess the Catholic Church still might believe the man will pull out in time.  If you are going to get rid of birth control can we also get rid of Viagra?
