McConnell, GOP Senate brace for Roy Moore
By Alexander Bolton - 09/27/17 08:13 PM EDT

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and his allies are coming to grips with the fact that the next GOP colleague in their club is likely to be a conservative firebrand who the No. 2 Senate Republican just last week said would not be a reliable member of the conference.

Roy Moore’s victory in Alabama’s GOP primary on Tuesday is trouble for McConnell, who will have a new disruptive force to deal with in the Senate — assuming Moore wins the general election in December.

Moore provided a blueprint for defeating Senate GOP incumbents that involved using McConnell as a punching bag — something the Senate GOP leader and his colleagues all noticed.

Nonsense.  Moore will be one more vote preventing Republicans from reaching a majority ..... so nothing will get passed and McConnell can rest easy.

None of the Republicans want to accomplish anything beyond keeping their jobs and TV appearances.

I wouldn't say none!  There are probably at lest 4 or 5 who actually do.

I'm getting as cynical as you seem to be, RIV.   Tax reform is the GOP Senate's last chance to get to work for the American people.   If it fails,  I will support the President's efforts to cut deals with centrists.

Should tell you something when you're whining about your 'conservative' agenda, when most of the time, it's a hearty handful of actual Conservatives standing in your way.

NO.  There are NONE who actually want to turn talk into legislation for the President to sign.

NONE.

You are just plain wrong there!  Granted there aren't many but there are some!

Give it a damn rest @roamer_1

Your finger-pointing, myopic worldview is quickly becoming the greatest problem we face.  I don't want to know what's so fascinating about your navel ... but I will suggest it's time for you to lift your gaze.

Ah,but I am not the one gazing at navels, @Right_in_Virginia ...
I predicted this, as did many others here.

Reap your 'winning'.

When did you predict the Senate would not pass an Obamacare repeal bill ..... or take ANY step to change it?

You didn't.  If you were being rational, you would be as angry at the Senate as am I.

But you're so invested in hating the President you cannot see straight.... it must be a "conservative purity" thing.

Again ... my best advice to you is:  Lift your damn gaze @roamer_1  before your neck and your thinking freeze in their downward trajectory.

I hope every TEA Party Conservative in the Senate gives him a standing ovation.

The antithesis of John McCain.

McCain will not like it as the press will not cover him as much.

And then what?

And then we have one more true Conservative in the Senate that will work to squash the quasi Liberal idiocy of Mitch McConnell and actually work to get us back to adhering to the Constitution like we should.

That's what.

Yesssssss !!!  The fact that McConnell hates him is good enough for me.

What's wrong with having a good ole boy in the Senate, and what's wrong with everybody this morning?

I'm glad he won.  I think he'll be a breath of fresh air.  He's already terrified the atheists.

What's wrong is....  Trump supported 'the other guy'....first of all.   And secondly, what's wrong is Moore represents conservative values....  NOT establishment RINO and/or Trump values.  That is why all the kavetching & whining about Moore in this thread....lol.

To the Trump worshippers, Moore represents just as much (or perhaps more, pardon pun) "the enemy" as the Democrats do.
No quarter given to the enemy within...ever.

meh - I have said all the way along, that Tump was pissing off the very people he was going to need.
This is what happens - So yes, I absolutely did predict this...

And he CHOSE to work with McConnell and the RINOs. He meant to. How is it that he destroys absolutely everything in his path, but can't do anything with the Turtle? In the meantime, he steps on Conservatives every chance he gets... So don't tell me how it's all the Senate's fault. Tump set this situation up. With purpose.

Does that mean I am not pissed at the Senate? Oh, hell no! Throw ALL the bastards out - with a handful of exceptions. But that handful, being principled in nature, will still be in your boy's way, just like they would be with any RINO.

And more power to em.

Bull S### I'm a Trump supporter and I'm glad Moore won. Luther was probably a good guy
but he was credibly tagged as GOPe.

Moore has repeatably said he will help Trump get his agenda done. There is no way Moore won
without the Trump voters support. Trump-ism is bigger then just Donald Trump. It know
that is hard for you (Cruz) cultists to understand but it is true. We voted for Trump ON ISSUES
not on personality. (Although Trump is pretty funny. He could almost do stand up.)

Dammit, jpsb, all the certified Trump supporters are dissing the dude... why aren't you in line?

Plus, how many times do I have to tell you that people who support and like Ted Cruz are not cultists.  We are the smart people.
