They stood for the anthem.
Knelt during the prayer.

They showed unity with each other without disrespecting the anthem.

Is nothing good enough for anyone?

BLM is a phony grievance based on a lie. The gentle giant wasn’t shot with his hands up. He was shot legitimately after attacking a police officer. The NFL should not be lending it’s legitimacy to a destructive, divisive racial lie!

I guess that's gonna have to be....probably the new norm.

I don't see what the problem is with what they did. They showed no disrespect to anyone or the anthem.

Did they put their hands over their hearts during the anthem?  No?

Then it wasn't good enough.

I think it is very telling that apparently to some (on social media, some of the crap I'm reading, not here), it really wasn't about the National Anthem. Standing together for the anthem wasn't enough apparently.

I had it on mute watching Young Sheldon instead, but what I saw, it was respectful to everyone, standing as a unified team for each other and respecting the flag and anthem.

It is even telling that, the point they kneeled was during the prayer, which is a traditional time to kneel.

As time goes on these protests will continue and owners and players who went along with it begrudgingly will get tired of the drama and primadonnas.

They can sing the anthem and have their hands over their hearts, and I won't give a ____, because I'm not coming back.

That arm-locking is questioned by many as well. I don't give it a "hurrah" at the moment.  I'm not saying it's bad either.

The arm-locking is done to show solidarity to the players; so, it's standing before the flag and this.  To me, it's a bit of a compromise too and a bit of a cop out.

I usually don't agree with AbaraXas, respect his/her opinion but on this, we are stuck with deciphering what this or that means.  I'm not see what the 'boys did as bad but it's a bit open to interpretation.

This gets a "meh" from me I think. They did stand for the anthem.

But also probably a cop out at the same time.

You are wrong. See here.

Quoting from the link:

Quote
...
(b)Conduct During Playing.—During a rendition of the national anthem—
  (1) when the flag is displayed—
    (A) individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note;
    (B) members of the Armed Forces and veterans who are present but not in uniform may render the military salute in the manner provided for individuals in uniform; and
    (C) all other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart, and men not in uniform, if applicable, should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and
...

They didn't follow the proper protocol, therefore they showed disrespect.

You can say there have always been players who didn't follow the proper protocol, and you would be right. However, in the past, I could chalk that up to ignorance or apathy, and not a deliberate attempt to p!ss on my values and beliefs. I no longer give them benefit of that doubt.

Buh-bye, NFL.   :seeya:

I just see it as an attempt to be on both sides of the issue without actually taking a stand.

Rather squishy...
