NFL plans to run ad promoting unity in response to Trump criticisms
by Kyle Feldscher | Sep 24, 2017, 11:25 AM

The NFL will run an ad promoting football as a symbol of unity Sunday after the league became the center of a maelstrom of controversy following President Trump's criticisms of players who kneel during the national anthem to protest racism.

The ad, which first ran during the Super Bowl in February, will be shown during the Sunday Night Football game on NBC, CNN reported.

"We think this is the single best response to demonstrate what we are about," an NFL spokesman told CNN. "It stands in stark contrast to some who practice the politics of division."

The transcript for the ad states:

Quote
"Inside these lines, we don't have to come from the same place to help each other reach the same destination. Inside these lines, we may have our differences, but recognize there's more that unites us. Inside these lines, it's a game of inches, and there's no such thing as an easy yard when you're fighting to move forward. Inside these lines, we're not only defined by our victories, but by the way we handle our defeats. Inside these lines, we can bring out the best in each other, and live united — Inside these lines."

They can waste whatever money they want. I’ll be watching meaningful baseball games and NASCAR.

I'll watch Baseball instead.  It's a better game, anyway.

Hey... you know when this country used to have unity? When the National Anthem was played just before the game and all players and fans paid their respect.

Just sayin'.

1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

The seats and viewers that are being lost, are the most profitable; nearly all net profit to the bottom line.

Viewers are disproportionately white. Black players are cutting off their NFL $2 million average paycheck noses.

It amazes me the owners and the league, enabling these disrespectful anti-American demonstrators.

Yeah, we'll see. I just don't seeing the diehards turning away. It would be nice, but it won't happen.

Now - if the fans wanted to counter-demonstrate, they could choose to turn their backs on the players who take a knee when the player gets introduced. They could turn their backs when that player scores a touchdown. They could refuse to buy gear emblazoned with that player's name and number.
