Raw Deal: Is 'Chicken Sashimi' Safe?
By Sara G. Miller, Staff Writer | September 7, 2017 03:54pm ET

It's not uncommon to find raw foods on a restaurant menu — think sushi or steak tartare — but if you see uncooked poultry as an option the next time you're dining out, you may want to opt for something else.

Several restaurants in the United States are serving up a raw chicken dish that's referred to as either chicken sashimi or chicken tartare, according to Food & Wine Magazine. Though the "specialty" hasn't caught on much in the U.S., it's more widely available in Japan.

What kind of fool are you if you think it''s safe to eat raw chicken?  And how can anybody even choke it down without vomiting it back up?

For me, the same goes for raw fish.  The hell with it, I want my meat and fish cooked.

My cousin has a word for raw fish: bait! Seems to fit.

That's ok more sushi for me.    I'll take the raw chicken too.  It'll taste great after I grill it.

It'd probably be okay if they just cooked it.

I like PB&J: Chunky pb, Smuckers Strawberry preserves on thick (if I don't have homemade). The PB forms a perimeter seal to keep the jelly from leaking out.

Pass.  I'll have lots of beef, pork, chicken, and fish.  I'll just cook it like a civilized person.

Great, now we're going to start seeing possum and squirrel sashimi on the menu. It will become the latest food trend in hip New York eateries.

Crap. Every time they 'discover' poor folks food, poor folks can't afford it any more.

I had to laugh when celebrity chefs discovered ramps. My kin in West Virginia have been eating ramps (or avoiding them, because they're so darn stinky) for generations.

Isn't that the same stuff that Rapunzel's mother ate?

The one that got me is a wayback.
Back when hamburger was 19 cents a pound, the Washington Post ran a thing in their food section one Sunday about how chic 'ground beef' was and the price doubled almost overnight. I recall my Mother using some scathing invective for the food writers who wrote about "poor folks food" and in so doing, made it significantly more expensive for 'poor folks' to eat.
