As Lead Poisons A Child, A Slow Response
By Brenda Goodman, MA, Andy Miller

Sept. 6, 2017 -- Almost as soon as he could balance on his plump baby legs, Austin Poteet loved to pull himself up to look out of windows in the house his family was renting in Ashburn, GA.

While he stood at the window, he may have found more than just a way to watch his dad mow the lawn, says his mother, Montie Poteet.

Lead paint was banned almost forty years ago, and the biggest risk occurred when the paint deteriorated, so how bad was this home in disrepair for the paint to be a risk? In forty years I would have thought there would be at least 8 or more layers of non lead based paint encapsulating the lead based paint.
