The Roman ruins have been discovered off the coast of northeastern Tunisia.

It confirms a theory that the city of Neapolis was partly submerged by a tsunami in the 4th century AD.

An underwater expedition found streets, monuments and about 100 tanks used to produce a Roman condiment.

Plato was writing about the lost city of Atlantis in 400 BC, at the time Rome was a city state ruled by the Etruscans and had just been sacked by the Celts. No Roman city could possibly be Atlantis.
