A Greek Life retreat at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) was promptly canceled this weekend after a banana peel was found hanging in a tree.

“To be clear, many members of our community were hurt, frightened, and upset by what occurred at IMPACT,” Interim Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life Alexa Lee Arndt remarked in an email between Greek leaders, according to The Daily Mississippian. “Because of the underlying reality many students of color endure on a daily basis, the conversation manifested into a larger conversation about race relations today at the University of Mississippi.”

Yeah. I know. But, but, wouldn't it be incredibly racist for anyone to automatically associate a banana peel with Black people. I guess the idea is supposed to be that Black people are monkeys. Monkey eat bananas. Ergo, a banana peel in a tree is meant for Black people? Man! That is some convoluted logic right there.


Bet you money that the University outlaws bananas on campus now, because they may 'offend' Black people.


But by Black people being offended by bananas, aren't they sort of validating the whole concept. I mean, if a Black guy said, "A banana? I don't give a damn about a banana." Wouldn't that have more dignity to it?


The whole thing is crazy. What if there was a watermelon in the tree. Would they laugh or would they call the police?
