Congress waiting on damage estimate for Harvey
By Alexander Bolton - 08/29/17 04:29 PM EDT

Congressional appropriators are waiting for a final tally of the hurricane destruction in Texas and Louisiana before moving forward with an emergency assistance package that would cost tens of billions of dollars.

Torrential flooding has displaced thousands of residents and caused between $30 billion and $100 billion worth of damage, according to various estimates.

President Trump on Monday promised that Congress would appropriate additional federal aid to the region “very quickly” as the disaster is expected to deplete the resources of the Federal Emergency Management Agency in a matter of weeks.

Why is Congress waiting?  The storm isn't over yet, meanwhile we have millions of people who need HELP!!  You mean to tell me that can't set a temporary budget now that can be adjusted later if needed??
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

They need to play their games.

Congress has to wait. The carpet and drywall hasn't even begun to mold, yet. (yes, that's sarcasm). A lot of extra damage can be prevented if people can get started as soon as the water goes down.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Can their approval rating get any lower? Of course, it does not matter to them as they collect their perks, bribes, jobs for their families, enjoy junkets, etc.

These "servants" better get to work with a starting budget.
Principles matter. Words matter.

Somebody didn't read all three sentences of the excerpt.

Quote
Congress acted more swiftly in 2005, when then-President George W. Bush signed a bill for $10.5 billion in supplemental funding for the victims of Hurricane Katrina — which struck New Orleans — and another bill appropriating $51.8 billion within weeks of the disaster.

Not like it ain't happened before, yet Congress is still dragging feet, refusing to lead.

Trump needs to make an immediate request, and start shaming if there's no action.
The Republic is lost.
