The Realm of the Vikings

From their mastery of the seas to their influence over lands as far from home as Russia and North America, the Scandinavian raiders known as the Vikings shaped the world for centuries. Swift and deadly, the Vikings dominated the seas of northern Europe from the late eighth century to the 11th.

Kool.

Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066, at the end.

Since Kim Siddorn and Regia Anglorum were involved in this I gotta figure this is pretty much the way it actually went down.

https://regia.org/

If the English had even imagined what they were facing - one man with a six foot long Dane Axe - they'd have shot him with longbows from a safe distance, instead of trying to get past him on the bridge.

Imagine a six or seven foot long quarter stave with a large, light weight axe head on one end.

Attack and defend with both ends and the middle.

Just the sight of a guy heading your way with a Dane axe told you, you were in real trouble.

Reenactors who've studied the weapon have had the heads clocked at 60 Miles per hour.
My 'Viking Hunter' High Adventure Alternate History Series is FREE, ALL 3 volumes, at most ebook retailers including Ibooks, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and more.

In Vol 2 the weapons come out in a winner take all war on two fronts.

Vol 3 opens with the rigged murder trial of the villain in a Viking Court under Viking law to set the stage for the hero's own murder trial.
