We speak of the habitable zone of not to hot or too cold but on a universal scale we're creatures of the extreme cold. Temperatures are capable of only getting a few hundred degrees colder but theoretically trillions of degrees hotter.

Obliquely related, decades ago, I had a dream about being an astronaut who encountered a race that saw logarithmic scales the way we see linear ones. I wrote a short story based on it. Unfortunately, my conscious mind isn't nearly as smart as my subconscious, and I couldn't remember some of the interesting observations (i.e., subconscious musings) I'd had.
