4 months out of 70 years doesn't a trend make.  There just hasn't been enough time to see where he will land on the left vs. right line.

If his supreme court nominee lives up to expectations,   It won't matter a lot to me where people want to put him on the line.   So long as I get results that I consider essential to the long term benefit of conservative policy,   he and others can call him anything they like.

If he nominates another conservative justice to the Supreme Court and stacks the Federal bench with conservatives,   it will likely matter more in the long run than anything else he does.

I would question the four months .... more like a year and four months, but I do agree with you.

Any sane person would be a little nervous about Trump.  I know I am.  All I am going on now is what he has done since becoming President and he has done fairly well.

The best part of Trumps first 100 days is that they are not Hillary's 100 days.

Zero disagreement.

But how?

Run counter programming with conservative media? That's not gonna happen for one very basic reason - conservatives eat their own. Name one conservative commenter/writer with an audience that you admire and I can guarantee that you'll get someone - also conservative - disparaging them within three posts.

If I may insert a totally off topic positive note.  I have really enjoyed Melania as First Lady.  She has handled herself beautifully and always looks gorgeous.

  • RIP Blue, 2012-2020---my big, gentle friend.
This thread is now 12 pages and, as always happens, it has disintegrated into personal animosity and name calling.

I could be one of the guilty parties.  I don't think so but if I am I apologize to everyone in the world.
@Emjay
I'm not accepting your apology---only because you didn't call me any names.

I hope the only ones I've called names are members of the (yes, I know, it sounds like "promiscuous celibate")
political class. Archie Bunker once said of his son-in-law, "When I want to compliment him I call him
Meathead!" Likewise---when I want to compliment the political class I call them Hilarious Rodent Clinton,
Donaldus Minimus, His Excellency Al-Hashish Field Marshmallow Dr. Barack Obama Dada, etc., Rinse Platypus,
Daffy Duck Schumer, Nancy Pelousy, Pill Ryan, et. al.

Pretty sure Melania was ruled as being never off topic. If not, she should be!    She's a lady, right enough.

That's about the fifth or sixth time on four different threads you've over used and wrongly used that term.

It's correctly used,  and it's probably not used often enough.   You people keep moving the goal posts.   You keep moving them in whatever  direction the Liberal media stampedes you.

You'd be screaming to the high heavens...wait you DO scream to the high heavens about Hillary and her security leaks and what she might and might not have revealed to the Russians 'according to unnamed sources"...you take those leakers as the gospel when it's a Dem involved.

Proffering the notion that the left wing media would leak anything on Hillary tells me you aren't up to the standard that I would consider to be the minimum to play this game.

More likely if Hillary won,  I wouldn't be screaming anything,  I would be going dark and hoping my past conversations would not be noticed.    Hillary is a *NAZI*  .   I kept trying to explain this to a lot of bone headed people,   but Hillary is a Stalinesque Psychotic Socialist crackpot who would have no moral compunction against killing or imprisoning her political opponents.

I truly believe that Hillary is about as evil of a person who has ever ran for the Highest office.    Hillary would unleash Socialist Gestapo on all of us,   and I would simply go dark and stop communicating what I thought to the rest of the world.

Stop beclowning yourself.

And here the pot calls the kettle "black."

What's the veracity of the intelligence?

Who gives a sh*t?   I am not in a position to know what was discussed,  and thankfully neither are you.   This is how this works with elected officials.    *They*   use their judgement,  and we don't get a say as to how well they did until the next election.

How can you sit there and know for sure that there are not intelligence assets put in danger because Trump wouldn't keep his mouth shut with the Putin friendly Russian media right there as he's telling this to the Russian FM?

I guess you completely missed that part about McMasters saying it didn't happen?    Perhaps you should learn more before you speak?

Oh that's right...you can't.

I just did.

How long after that meeting to you think it took for that same information to get to the Syrian General Intelligence Directorate or to the analysts at VEVAK?

Hopefully quickly if the Russians are not laggards about it.    Isn't that the entire point of giving it to them?  So that they can use this information quickly?

As for McMaster...he's in the doghouse right now with Trump anyway...he's not going to do anything right now to counter what his boss says.  Not that Trump would listen to his advice in private either.

Always an excuse you have to prop up your little fantasy.

You know who should be embarrassed?    It should be the people swallowing the fake news that the media is attempting to create out of thin air,   and then ranting about it.

Exactly,   so stop doing it.

@DiogenesLamp Lamp

It never matters, and it's never Trump's fault.

I am thinking that until the Media stops attacking him for every petting thing which they can twist into a scandal,   I'm going to refuse to accept that it's his fault for anything.     I don't have to be fair to the enemy,  and I will make a point to be deliberately unfair to them as an act of revenge.

As Glenn Reynolds said many times.   " You don't like Trump?   This is how you get more Trump."

People will start siding with Trump even when he's wrong simply to piss off all the right people and make them go crazy.

To borrow a line from Kurt Schlichter,

Liberals Are An Inferno Of Flaming Crazy And We Should Pour Gasoline On The Fire

So are a few other Trump hating crazies.

Reading, thanks.

One small irony that made me smile - top of the page I get a "this video is unavailable" A bit of a commentary on actual conservative news availability, intentional or no. I've heard good things about OANN.

That's what I keep telling myself..

Who doesn't think, by now, they'd be voting on Single Payer?  ... if they had only a majority in ONE of the Chambers?

Because with another Ginsburg on the Court, if they couldn't their way at the voting booth, they'd sue and oppose on everything put forth.

That people didn't see the 'bullet' we dodged, astounds me.   Literally.

Just substitute "media" for "Democratic" in this headline . . .

Democratic Hypocrisy and Hysteria Don’t Make Trump Right

. . . and do likewise in the following passage from that article:

Quote
the attacks on Democrats soon become part of the problem. By obscuring the difficult facts and providing
Trump’s base with a distraction from the core of the matter, the attacks enable Trump’s worst impulses. Indeed,
Trump himself has picked up on their talking points, tweeting again and again and again about Democratic
hypocrisy.

If we want Trump to tell the truth, to behave responsibly, and not to lash out in unreasoned fury, then it can’t
just be Democrats who take him on. Yes, it’s right to point out when the Democrats are wrong and unreasonable.
It’s right to push back against hysteria. But you push back for an underlying purpose: to uphold the core principles
of constitutional republic.
Did Trump tell the truth? What was his intent?  . . .  These are the core questions of
the day, not whether Bernie Sanders and Chuck Schumer are political opportunists, not whether Keith Olbermann
has lost his mind. It’s time to stop enabling Trump and start seeking the truth — even if the truth hurts.
(Emphasis added.---EA.)

Your enemy may be an unreasonable hysteric, but it doesn't mean your friends are always right, either.

Gentlemen, stick to the topic and lay off the insults.

All of us here are on the conservative side of the political divide and calling each other KOS retreads or DU posters is not useful.

What about it, numbskull?

1)  I am not a gentleman.
2)  I did not call anyone a KOS retread or DU poster, including the one who actually actively posted at DU for several years.  I merely mentioned that he was once a mole there and would be privy to @Jarhead 's ID and questioned what that ID was since he would know.
3)  I had not made it down to MOD2's post as yet when I posted.
4)  I have no nuts to be numb.  Try again.

I'll refrain from commenting on the first part of MOD2's statement as I disagree, but be that as it may, we can all continue to pretend that it is for the harmony of the forum.  ;)  After all, it is @mystery-ak 's forum and it is whatever she wants it to be.

In case you haven't noticed,  we are engaged in "tribal warfare."    When it comes to tribal warfare,   it no longer matters if your side has blundered,  you defend them anyway.    The point is to present a unified front against the other "tribe."

This is the essence of politics at it's basic level.   It's just plain human nature,   and you don't get to circumvent it because you find it distasteful.    Humans are motivated by their nature,   and if you want to win you have to play into their nature,  not against it.

The media's current attack is to portray everything Trump does as a blunder or treasonous,  or beneath contempt,  and so  the only reasonable response is to tell them to go F*** themselves,  and that we aren't going to believe a d@mn thing they say about him because they've  blown their credibility and now we recognize that they are on the other team.

We have to punish them,  i.e. counterattack  because if we don't,  they will just keep pressing  their own attack and it will interfere with our efforts to get anything done in Washington.

The sooner we make the media shut up their distractions and attacks,   the sooner our agenda can get advanced.

Convincing them that we simply don't give a crap about any of the accusations they will make against Trump is the only effective way I can see to neutralize them.

It's Tribal warfare.   It doesn't have to be "fair."   It has to win.
