I am in the health care biz..
Matter of fact ask any nurse. People with no health insurance are the very most demanding in the hospital and want the most expensive treatment to be available for them.
@mirraflake

Several years before govn. got into healthcare, my husband had to have a serious operation.  He had medical insurance with Brown and Root, not a problem.   When he went into the hospital the day before the surgery, he was put in a double room.  Then, a man was put in there with him.

This man was dirty, looked like a bum.  A nurse came in with a paper for him to sign.  He wouldn't sign it.  The nurse said it would help with his hospital cost.  He yelled and said, "You have to give me medical care and I'm not signing anything!"  Because he was so dirty, I didn't want him sharing a bathroom with my husband.  I went to the nurse's desk, told them that, and they moved my husband right then.

That man was one of those who care about nothing, then when they get sick, they show up in the emergency room, demanding free healthcare.

I bet at least one item in your life that saved  or saves your life or of your loved ones was developed by a US grant at some uni somewhere.

Then let's have more of it!  Like I said - let's all endorse a 100% income tax so more money can be dumped into grants and government research so more lives can be saved.

BTW Steve Jobs pushed for more US grant money and said we were being left behind by other countries who were increasing grant money. Is he a communist?

Jobs is still dead last time I looked.  So much for all that money in grants to save HIS life.  But it is self-evident that the majority of the world's richest are the biggest Communism advocates out there in the world.

MY local county gave a new  business the land, and no taxes for 25 year if they would build in our county and create 800 high paying jobs instead of going elsewhere.  Are they communist?

Crony Capitalists/Fascists perhaps.  You know, where some businesses get perks and bennies from government while others do not.  You know, because some animals are more equal than others.

BTW, how did your local county manage to OWN a bunch of land?  Did the feds gift it to them?  Did grants and taxes gift your county ownership of land that they then turned on over freely to another company?  Or perhaps it was land they confiscated for unpaid property taxes in the past?

As I said it's no longer 1770

Absolutely.  And today the US flag should just be all red to adequately portray what we have become.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

Crony capitalitalism has been around for thousands of years and I would bet our Founding fathers even practiced it quite a bit with their own business ventures.

Our county purchased the land from a private owner, built the road for the company and all sewage etc and no property taxes for 25 years.

800 high paying jobs average $23-25 pr hour and full benefits. It sure did liven up my area semi rural area. The county commissionars posted all the figures in the newspaper and the county will get all their money back in something like 12-15 years with increased employment, offshoot jobs, new home building etc in the area and sales taxes

One of my clients owns a new car dealership. The company in question purchased 31 brand new trucks with one purchase order. My machine shop client with 4 employees has gone up to 9-10 employees taking care of that business and a local guy with a fleet of haul trucks went from 6 trucks to over 30. As a matter of fact he just built a $300k hobby garage to house his race cars.
These are just some of my clients or people I know.

I am in the health care biz..Time for medicare for all paid via payroll taxes. Run it just like Medicare with Medicare and dru7g supplements that cover the small stuff.

@mirraflake

Either it will be exorbitant in price (read, astronomical), or will deny service, watch and see. This isn't about healthcare. It's about feeding the beast.

Quote
The new HC plan is a disaster. Insurance companies( I work for them)  are going to cut pre existing and place those people in high risk pools. If you have PE such as diabetes wait until you get your monthly premium of $1500+ per person when you are  placed in the high risk pool

Both my brother and sister are paying around 1500/month per person with no pre-existing (approximately three times their mortgage per month)... Both families had fairly major surgery last year, paid completely out of pocket, because the cost missed the deductible...

In my sister's case, $12k was paid out of pocket, followed by another $10k just the other day... Paying TWENTY_EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS per year out in insurance coverage which didn't pay a thin dime against another TWENTY TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS worth of surgery... Which they have to pay taxes on too, no less. That's north of EIGHTY THOUSAND DOLLARS paid out in two years, on a 46 year old woman with no pre-existing conditions.

It's dang near destroyed her household.

Quote
Older peoples premiums are going to sky rocket.

Oh bullcrap. Old people are all already qualified for medicare.

Quote
The only people who say HC is not a right are healthy people and people on the fringe or people with the very best gov't health care. I have never met a person who has come down with a dreaded disease or their close family member, say their 5 year old daughter say HC is not a right.

GOOD. Then let THEM crap out and become eligible for medicaid. Let THEM lose all their stuff. My sister's house is within 90 days of tipping over, whereupon they will lose all their stuff (and my brother is not far behind) in order for your precious 'government entitled right'. Almost four times the cost they would have paid out otherwise (and that they did pay out anyway).

SCREW the healthcare industry... And SCREW the government.

Republicans eat another ‘crap sandwich’

By Charles Hurt - The Washington Times - Thursday, May 4, 2017

ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Congratulations, House Republicans. You just passed the second-worst socialized medicine bill in American history.

And, if it passes the U.S. Senate, you will own the disaster formerly known as Obamacare — just in time for the 2018 elections.

Something is not right with your sisters case..did she use a out of network provider?  Was the procedure not covered under insurance and she went ahead and had it done?

By old people I meant 50-64

And the really amazing thing is....  that they (and their cheerleaders right here on this very forum) ...

are spinning this bill like it was the greatest thing since pre-sliced bread.

They have apparently gotten so used to that 'special flavor' being doled out by the RINOs and the ""moderates"".... that they like those kind of sandwiches now.   Problem is.... they keep trying to push it down our throats, as well!

Wait, wait, wait...

This is a great opportunity to try some condescension! Hmmm... Let's try...

"Oh, you just don't understand. You'll thank me later!"

No. How about...

" :silly: You're too funny! When all the hysteria settles, people will see what a great bill this is!"

Nope. Wait. I got it!

"Oh, sweetie. This is just the beginning. By September, Trump will have fixed everything!"

Hrm. I can't seem to get a good rhythm. One last try...

"You see, the problem with you purists is that you want some fantasy bill instead of a bill that can actually be passed. It doesn't matter what the people want, or what is good, we have to accept what our elite ruling class can actually get through Congress. You'll learn to like it - as I have - and will soon become a stalwart defender of comrade Trump who is working towards the greater good with the politburo!"

Yeah. That seems about right.
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

I don't see anyone spinning this bill as the greatest thing since pre-sliced bread @XenaLee   I see a few rational folks right here on this forum calling this bill a critically important first step in undoing Obamacare.  Had this stalled again in the House, Obamacare, without question, would remain in full force.

Now the Senate gets its say.  And the same few rational folks right here on this forum are waiting to see what comes out of the Republican conference before embracing or rejecting the actual bill to be put on the President's desk to sign into law.

Well.... with all "due" respect....

the reason you 'don't see' it.... is probably due to a severe and chronic case of HUB Syndrome.

You only see what you want to see....and only how you want to see it.  Nothing else.

Just sayin....

But then.... I'm not the one that said that "We are celebrating" just two days ago.  That would be you.   Which proves my initial point about trying to spin this bill as a 'good thing'.   Must suck when your own words defeat the BS you're trying to 'currently' spread, eh?

No. And no. And no. The problem is the high per-person deductible, and the year-split. That one incident came in one premium year, and the other in the next, albeit that they were eight months apart.

Well, not anymore, as she no longer has insurance  - Talked to both her and my brother last night, and with your post on my mind, found that both have opted out. No more insurance at all. They can't afford it. Both (prior to Obamacare) mid-middle class, and they cannot afford it.

And before you tell me she should have selected a better plan, it was the best she could do, and cost her THREE TIMES HER MORTGAGE. Weigh that against what she had before, $350/mo. $1000 deductible, that would have paid out all but $1000 on each incident, and would have covered first dollar prescriptions per incident.

When is your sister available for Medicare?

Like I said, she's about 46. If their business can't pull them out of this predicament, she'll be eligible for medicaid far sooner.
