White House says it won't make visitor logs public

By Josh Dawsey and Nolan D. McCaskill

President Donald Trump’s administration announced Friday that the White House won’t release records of its visitors, raising new concerns from transparency advocates.

The decision not to voluntarily disclose White House visitor logs is a break from the policy of former President Barack Obama’s administration, even though Trump had called his predecessor the “least transparent president.”

White House communications director Michael Dubke framed the decision not to disclose who visits the president as resulting from the “national security risks and privacy concerns of the hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.” Time magazine first reported the reversal.

Just look at the employee list of Goldman Sachs and you will have the WH visitors log.

Golodman Sachs and other lobbyists probably dominate the list

Is this another case of "Obama did it, so who cares"?

Could be a matter of security.

Yep, this is definitely a big no no, time to warm up the torches and pitchforks.

Notice how the article states Obama's policy was to make the visitor's records public.  They just couldn't help themselves now could they?

Maybe the whole thing is fake news.

They've only been voluntarily released since 2009 - they are exempt from FOIA requests (per a 2012 court ruling). For every other President, you had to wait for 5 years after they left office to see the logs. Trump is returning policy to the status quo - rather than pulling a Worm by "releasing" them.

I think it was, despite it's glaring evasion at times, one of the very few things the Worm did that's worth keeping.

Funny how not long ago, our side was suing the Obama administration when they didn't provide complete logs or they were redacted.

I don't care.  Crooks have ways of getting around this and we have more to worry about than visitor logs.

Oh really?  Well I would like to know what kind of people are frequenting the President.  People with business ties.  Liberals who we do not want influencing the President.  People with foreign interests.

He has already had a rocky start with the people he chose that were tied to Russia.  Being that President Trump still is tied to his business I think it is important.

A lot of people had serious concerns when the Muslim Brotherhood frequented the Obama White House more often than Congressional leaders.  Google executives visited so often Washington insiders questioned if they had their own office within the White House.  Oil companies, defense contractors, and Al Sharpton were no strangers to the Oval Office.

What's the old saying about "the company you keep"?
