JACKSON, MI - This time of year, the weather can take a big turn from winter to spring - or even summerlike - temperatures.

That's what happened in 1965 when the remnants of winter's heavy snow still lingering on the ground met warmth that most people probably welcomed - until it turned into deadly storms.

Today marks the 52nd anniversary of the Palm Sunday Tornado Outbreak of April 11, 1965, storms that struck six Midwestern states, killing 271 people. The outbreak included two killer F4 tornadoes that swept through Branch, Hillsdale and Lenawee counties.
