It appears to have been a simply glorious event ... the Aussies are over the moon.  I wish there were more video from the dinner itself.  The PM said he was overcome by tears when the military orchestra played "Waltzing Matilda"

Too many ruffles, especially on the bodice; too severe a neckline.

This isn't their best picture, POTUS doesn't look all that happy and once again .... the horrid gown (it looks like a granny nightgown) ...  The pic does capture her gracefulness.

Comparing the photos from today with the state dinner .... I can't believe how heavy that aqua nightmare made Melania look.

I hope that dress has been shipped off to the charity of her choice.   :laugh:

The black dress worn @ the NY  Stock Exchange would have been more appropriate!  Simple but elegant -- looks like she has opted for a square toed pump in lieu of the stilettos?

I noticed that as well and thought it was odd.  The kids though are dressed in long sleeves on the raft down the Snake River; FLOTUS appears to be dressed differently as well.

The Cub and Boy Scouts are in class A uniform for the meet-and-greet. If jackets were necessary they were probably being held for them by their parents. Melania might have been wearing the coat as the simplest way to carry it.

For the terminally curious, here's the temps in Jackson Hole, https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/jackson-hole/83011/october-weather/2623211 . The lows for the first few days of this week were in the low-mid 20s F, and the highs mostly 50ish, though Wednesday was 42 F, and Thursday was 60 F. The shadows indicate that the pictures were either somewhat early in the morning or somewhat late in the afternoon.

Were I doing a running event in that kind of weather, I'd definitely wear a long-sleeved shirt and long pants rather than shorts. I've done at least one event where the temp at starting time was ~40 F. So jackets and coats were appropriate for hanging out in that weather, but for 10 minutes of meet-and-greet pictures with uniforms, no biggie. I'm still impressed by the number of Merit Badges on that one Scout's sash. If he's managed doing "requireds" properly, he could be within a year and an Eagle Project of earning Eagle rank.

Melania Trump Blooms in Abstract Florals & Her Go-To Pumps at White House Dinner

This dress isn't one of my favorites but it looks nice on her and the abstract is definitely different.  Worried about our president; he looks very tired and worn down.  Looks like he needs a few days away from everything.

Sorry for the sort of serious post, but a day or two ago folks on DU were cheering that (supposedly) some 250 staff at the hospital opposed Melania's visit. Nice to see that the morons were ignored.

And in general it's nice having a FLOTUS who choice of clothes isn't rated 5 facepalms.
