Cruz Picks Up Important Early Endorsement
By Tim Thomas | March 31, 2017, 01:45pm | @AReasoningFaith
The 2016 election season may still be fresh in our minds – actually, who could ever forget it? – but Ted Cruz has already picked up an endorsement that is crucial to keeping his Senate seat.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced yesterday that that he is supporting Cruz in his bid for re-election in 2018.
“Since Ted Cruz was elected to the U.S. Senate, he has done everything he said he’d do for Texans, and more. From opposing gun control legislation, leading the effort to increase border security, and now spearheading the charge to confirm a constitutionalist to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court. Ted is a fighter who is getting things done for Texas.”
Though the general election is still quite a ways off, the campaign season for Texas primaries will be here before we know it. And though not surprising, the backing of Gov. Abbott is a big deal for Cruz – who drew much ire from Texas’ more moderate Republicans for not endorsing Donald Trump before or even during the 2016 Republican National Convention.
