Donald Trump is scheduled to host Ted and Heidi Cruz at the White House on Wednesday.

The president and the former presidential candidate will have dinner together Wednesday night, press secretary Sean Spicer confirmed to The Daily Caller. The purpose of Trump and Cruz’s meeting has not been made clear.

Though Cruz famously refused to endorse Trump at the Republican National Convention in July, he recently praised the president after he addressed a joint session of Congress in a speech Cruz called a “positive, unifying vision for the country.”

Not happy that the two of them are now buddy-buddy after the campaign .  I feel as if I was duped into believing what was a reality show, disguised as a campaign.  I admire Ted Cruz for a number of reasons -- his well thought out plan for dealing with Obamacare, for example -- but I can't trust him and am sorry I once did.

Sad to read the vitriol on Trump Republic.  Those people still believe the lies and conspiracy theories spread by Trump and his minions  about Ted Cruz and his family. For them the reality show is still on.

???? I admire Ted more than ever and have been a huge Cruz supporter for years and still am.  Trump's attitude towards his biggest foe wasn't a reality show. I think Trump now realizes Cruz is one of the few people actually trying to help his cause. Right now, with the wiretapping accusations and everything else going on with Sessions and Rosenstein, Cruz is probably the one person who may be able to give him some honest advice.  IMHO Cruz hasn't changed ... he's backing this President as far as immigration, the wall, etc; these are issues that Ted has always stayed true to.  Would you rather he hold a grudge against this President and block any progress or would you rather him do what he can to help drain the swamp and take this country in a different direction?  Cruz absolutely to the best of his ability fulfilled his #1 priority and that was ensuring that a conservative justice be appointed to the SCOTUS. In all of his phone scripts to people during his campaign the SCOTUS was a huge, huge focus.  Remember ... Cruz isn't part of the swamp.  His goal is to help in any way he can to drain it.

In a very real sense that is exactly the type of hype Trump managed to build. Crafting a narrative around lyind Ted the way a director does with the "bad" guy they want the audience to kick of the Island. It was all a show and I think Cruz knew that, but had very little he could do to change it when Trump and the media had him from both sides. Rush has tried to articulate this. Trump doesn't operate the same way most of us do. Words are simply tools to him; you say what you have to say to make the sale.

Would like to be a fly on the wall.

I trust Cruz a heck of a lot more than Trump, Cruz is consistent, with Trump I wake up each day hoping that he will pleasantly surprise me, so far there have been a good number of those days, unfortunately there have also been too many days where I wasn't surprised. I will continue to hope for the best and hope the ride smooths out over the next four years.

I do admire Ted Cruz.  It takes a real man to forgive like he has with Trump.   A true Christian.  A person walking his faith instead of giving it lip service.  Trump was a reality show during the campaign.  It was a circus but somehow people still believed in him.

I am glad that President Trump is reaching out to Ted Cruz.  Trump is in a mess which has happened in a very short time of becoming President.  If Cruz can help Trump then I am all for it.  In whatever capacity.

Why?  Why do you care?  Seems to me they both pulled up their big-boy pants and did the adult thing of letting bygones be bygones for the good of the nation.  And you actually managed to find fault with that?  Unreal.

All I can say is, I'm glad my husband isn't in politics, where some pretty egregious stuff has to be blown off as nothing.  If someone made a derogatory comment about my looks, he'd have to deal with my other half, and there would be no chance of dinner later on.  He would also have to deal with me, which would be even worse.

I don't see how they do it...but I'm glad it isn't me.

This will be a great opportunity for Trump to apologize to both Ted and Heidi.

Ted forgave Donald.

Cruz sure did--about 30 seconds after his last donor fled.

But, hey, I suppose it still counts.

I am a donor, and I am still here.  But your pettiness is duly noted.  Meanwhile, it will be refreshing to see Trump give audience to an actual Conservative for an hour instead of usual GOPe types that comprise his staff.

Still say, he's headed to the SCOTUS.   Would be a great one!

What does it matter to you whether either has apologized?  Both the President and Cruz have moved on.  I submit it is time to follow their lead.

Good point @Hoodat ... I should have clarified "large" donor--as in the type that underwrites a political campaign.

And it's not pettiness, dear.  It's politics---the blood sport Ted Cruz has chosen for a career.

Hopefully, Trump will listen to Cruz over this health insurance fiasco that is currently going on.
Maybe together they can straighten that out, before we get a brand new bad government controlled health care plane, replacing this last bad one we had.
