Melania Trump Hires Chief of Staff, Plans Move to DC in Summer

By LISSETTE RODRIGUEZ Feb 2, 2017, 1:57 AM ET

An aide to Melania Trump on Wednesday confirmed that the First Lady will move to the White House starting at the beginning of the summer.

"Mrs. Trump will be moving to D.C. and settling into the White House at the end of the school year, splitting her time between New York and D.C. in the meantime," Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, senior adviser to the First Lady told ABC News. "Mrs. Trump is honored to serve this country and is taking the role and responsibilities of the First Lady very seriously."

The confirmation comes after a rumor sparked by tabloids early Wednesday morning that the First Lady and her 10-year-old son Barron Trump were not considering a move to Washington, D.C. from New York City.

So, it seems the story circulating yesterday about Mrs. Trump staying in NY, instead of moving to DC - was fake news.

It would behoove us to view most all news these days as possibly fake.  The media has lost all credibility now.  My inclination is to wait until I see other sources backing up anything I see - not be so quick on the trigger, especially when my own personal feelings make me want to believe something.

It does seem that the story yesterday was fake news. It is all over the place these days.  @alicewonders  Glad you cleared this up. Will it make a difference here?   :pondering:

It's sad @alicewonders and a reflection of what we, the American Electorate, has become, especially with the advent of twitter and facebook.
If only this wisdom you prefer now was followed during the campaign maybe Trump's friend Pecker at the National Enquirer wouldn't have been able to convince a significant amount of Americans that Sen. Cruz had 8 mistresses and a conspiring Father.
But alas that was then, this is now and it's time to move on, so I hear.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Thanks Corbe.  I didn't buy into the mistress story myself - waited to see other sources confirm.  I guess it's human nature to want to believe the lurid stuff that fits one's view of the issues.

I do think it's time to move on.

Melania Trump is going to be her own kind of First Lady.  She's not going to let the media tell her how to do it.  She is a woman that seems to prefer a traditional role of wife and mother to her young son.  HIS needs come first - as it should be.  The media has attacked him mercilessly - a child!  I wouldn't blame her if she didn't want to live in the sewage pit called Washington DC - but I have no doubt that she will fulfill her role as First Lady in a dignified way.  She sure doesn't deserve some of the stuff I've read people say about her - even here.

You would think that eight years of Michelle Obama, and eight years of Hillary Clinton - would make conservatives thankful that we have some class back in that position.  Laura Bush was a good example of a First Lady that had class and dignity, and I say that as a person that does not care for the Bush family at all.  Still, she was a good role model in that position.

I doubt that posters will spend two pages on this rebuttal to the fake news posted here yesterday   - http://www.gopbriefingroom.com/index.php/topic,247172.0.html - the truth isn't as much fun to fuel wild speculation.

Yesterday some realized that this was fake news.  However, there is no denying that there isn't a whole lot of warmth between Trump and Melania; instead of escorting her up the capital steps to meet the Obamas he left her standing there.  It showed a tremendous lack of respect on his part for her. Trump certainly displays more respect and admiration for Ivanka than Melania.  It almost seems that Melania tries to be 'first' in Trump's eyes, but Ivanka holds that spot. Quite sad actually.
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.
