A National Councilman for the College Democrats of America is jumping ship and considering joining the Republican Party just before President-elect Trump takes the oath of office.

Michael Hout, a student at UMass Amherst, explained that he is upset by the Democratic Party's shift toward "extremist rhetoric" and its appeals to socialists and other non-Democrats.

While he disagrees with many of Donald Trump's positions, Hout even thinks Trump could be "just what the doctor ordered" to combat political correctness and censorship.

So far as the GOP rank and file are concerned, I don't think it has moved leftward so much as it has become perhaps more populist.

One could make that argument.  But I think the Trump voters don't have leftist motives; they're motivated by different issues.

This is, Yay, TEAM!!!  There's nothing behind it.

When you do dig deeper, you don't like what you find.  I sure don't.

The general shift has been Left.

But one side has shifted far, far-more Left than the other.  That's why we're ALSO so DIVIDED.

One side wants authoritarian statism, imposing socialism.  The other side wants the New Deal.

Left out are conservatives, who are mocked, shunted aside, shouted down.

This does not bode well.

Breaks my heart, a continuance of the 3rd term of Obama doesn't continue with Hillary.

Yeah, populism is another word for the left. 

Nice to have a candidate who doesn't espouse open borders in who knows how many decades; but hey, Dixie voted for an NY Liberal we hear.
