Near final results show a clear victory for Pro-Russia candidate Igor Dodon in the second round of Moldova's presidential election.

With 99.9 percent of the ballots counted, Dodon was leading 52.29 percent to 47.71 percent for pro-European candidate Maia Sandu.

"In compliance with the legislation, Igor Dodon becomes Moldova's president as he has gained most of the vote during the second round," Central Election Commission head Alina Russu said on November 14.

Russia has been very threatening and putting a lot of pressure on these countries, which now know that the US is not on their side under Trump.

I know a guy who went to Moldova as a Fulbright Scholar around 2006 or so to try to help them institute a reasonable taxation system in the new post-USSR nation. Not sure how that worked out.
