The political parties, and a cheering subset of loyal 'customers' to those parties, take that for granted and feel people must be loyal to them. They actually attack customers for choosing a different business instead of asking how they can be more attractive to those customers.

Case in point: As a Conservative, I am expected to vote for Trump (why that is escapes me) even though I am not a Republican.

Given that Trump has all Jewish Grandchildren,  I would guess the joke is on them.    So do you normally go around accusing people of siding with racists?

Yes, when they side with racists.

If the left attacked Rubio for this, it'd destroy their support with the gay community.  And that betrayal would have ramifications within the larger Democrat base.

No it wouldn't.   The gay community never wavered in their support of the Clintons because they don't believe a f***ing thing the Clinton's say  in criticism of them.   They just think  "Oh,  they had to say stuff like that,  they don't really believe that."

More evidence that you really don't understand the demographics behind these various constituencies.

It was only an issue that could be used by Republicans against Republicans.

Which is entirely the point.   It would cost Republican votes.   Hillary wouldn't have gained those votes,  but Rubio would have lost them.

No, you're not.

You've been one of the most vocal TRUMP supporters here.

"Tell a lie often enough..."

Thats the same reasoning they use when screaming they are conservatives. It's like Democrats touting their patriotism in light of actions showing they have none. Same/same.

You think Trump has gotten into the mud with Hillary?  He's trashed Paul Ryan more than he's trashed Hillary.

He's trashed women and Mexicans and Muslims more than he's trashed Hillary.

This man had the Clintons to his wedding, he donated to their Foundation and talked to Bill Clinton immediately before entering the race.  All his outrage over Hillary is phony posturing.  It's part of his con.  He wants you to think he hates them.  He doesn't.

Hell for that matter Trump has had the audacity to trash our troops in combat and the leaders above them...while bullets are flying.

Thats right out of Pelosi's playbook.

This, and come Wednesday morning... the fact that they will have to look at themselves in the mirror.

I doubt they will see a face they can respect.

If you are referring to anyone who voted for Trump you'd be dead wrong.

If you are referring to those who were ok with any means necessary to get Trump nominated, you'd have a point.

I point out when racists side *WITH YOU*.

Here's a hint, when the modern incarnation of the Nazi party gives *YOU* a big, sloppy, wet kiss on the lips...

...you *might* need to reevaluate *YOUR* ideology.

Yes, when they side with racists.

He seem to forget that Jews turned on Jews during WW II. The fact that Trump has Jewish grandchildren is moot.

Jewish grandchildren doesn't give Donny a pass on his racism.

He did say some kooky things,  but we all say kooky things from time to time.   Look at this lot right here!

Yes, but we overlook much of what you say.

As for Ben Carson, he regularly goes beyond kooky into weird and disconcerting.  Otherwise, I'm sure he's a great guy.

The rest of the party did not agree with you.   Obviously they must be wrong,  and you must be right.

Obviously you are mistaken

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/06/08/donald-trump-got-the-most-votes-in-gop-primary-history-a-historic-number-of-people-voted-against-him-too/

2. But Trump also had more votes against him.

The giant field of Republican candidates meant that votes in the early primaries were split widely, making it hard for anyone to cobble together a majority. It also appears to have meant that more people came out to vote. So it's not a surprise that Trump also set a record for the most votes cast against the top vote-getter -- or that he won a lower percentage of votes (the pie charts) than anyone since Reagan in 1968.

Amen.  It was clear after the early primaries that the only ones with a shot to win the nomination were Trump, Cruz, and Rubio.  The real saboteurs were Jeb and Kasich, both of whom did everything they could to sink the two Trump alternatives.  As soon as Rubio left, I went to Cruz.  That jackhole Kasich hung in there right to the end, though....

Rubio/Kasich would have been our best shot at this election.

The home state advantage with these two *alone* would have made the Electoral College math extremely easy for the GOP.  I pointed that out in the primaries, only to have our resident Trumpist scream bloody murder (along with calls to remove all non-Trumpists from this site).

All this tells me is that you are incredibly ignorant (for someone on a political forum)   about the nature of the beast you are supporting.  Also you are ignorant about the political nature of Trump.   He's  a relatively non ideological New Yorker.  He doesn't really have an ideology.  Hillary has not just an ideology,   but a pathology.  And it's all bad.

You need to go wash the crap from your eyes.

Trump is historically a NYC liberal, a crony capitalist, and all for big government. Even yet, he can't help but leak that past his 'conservative message'.

All of that equals a classic national socialist. And any socialism is just a whistle-stop away from full on communism. As I say, a distinction without a difference.

And I think you know it - No one is even attempting to defend Trump by way of ANY Conservative principle.

No it wouldn't.   The gay community never wavered in their support of the Clintons because they don't believe a f***ing thing the Clinton's say  in criticism of them.   They just think  "Oh,  they had to say stuff like that,  they don't really believe that."

Rubio's target demographic in this election would have been millennials, not gays.  I think you might be too-easily dismissing his appeal to them.  Personality/charisma/likeability is probably the most important factor a candidate can bring in deciding presidential elections.  Rubio would have had that all over Hillary.

The media might still have taken him down.  But I think he might have done better than you think.

That's where we disagree.   Sure things would have looked much different, but the end result, IMHO, would have been the same.

@dfwgator

Yup. Trump was the only candidate she had a chance of beating. I am positive that was their game plan, but then he won the primary and his ego got in the way of the plan.

Eisenhower was nice.

He was both unassailable and prior to the widespread adoption of Television.   Most of America did not see a litany of talking heads running him down.  Also that was a different era.  More moral and honest.

Reagan, too.

Reagan was a genius and a master communicator.    He was a rare bird that could beat the media at it's own game.   I doubt we shall see  his like again.

  The two Bushes as well.

Bush Senior was certainly nice to the enemy.   In fact,  he handed them the election on a silver platter,  and thereby set back the United States as well as the world.

He only won his first election because he was perceived as a continuation of Ronald Reagan's policies.

The only GOP President that wasn't nice was Nixon.

He was nice in his first Presidential election.    He lost.

And the home state advantage of Florida had nothing to do with the calculus.

 :facepalm2:

Not that much.   If the Republican can't win Florida,  he is already a dead man walking.

I don't expect you to admit it.

But Trumpists, in general, will conduct themselves in a more nihilistic and self-destructive fashion come Wednesday.  For they'll not be able to stand themselves.

And that's a measurable thing.  Come 2018, I'll expect to see studies on it.

For all of their faults,  the fact is that the Clintons have NEVER lost an election.  With the possible exception of Hillary losing the nomination to Obama, and that was only because Obama was the new Golden Child.

@dfwgator

Not true. Bubba lost an election for Governor. It was after that that Bubbette! lost the big birth-control glasses, dyed her hair, and started calling herself Hillary Rodham Clinton, instead of just Hillary Rodam.

I agree with that assessment.    Jeb and the Rockefeller establishment wing of the party could not accept that most voters wanted anyone but an establishment candidate.

Things got bizarre when Cruz became the "establishment"  candidate.    This has been a very weird election.

No, you're not.

You've been one of the most vocal TRUMP supporters here.

You keep categorizing me as a Trump supporter.    I am a reluctant Trump voter because the Hildabeast I perceive to be the greater threat to mine and my children's lives and future.

But of course,   you parse the facts to suit your narrative.
