It is nothing but a social media rumor started by sources outside of Seattle, taking something that Bobby Wagner said yesterday and turning it into something that is just not there. I am a Seahawk fan so was naturally concerned so dove into this starting with our local media KOMO News and found quite the opposite is happening.

The demostration is NOT a Protest. Doug Baldwin Tweeted today that " they will honor the country and the flag in a demostration of unity." Fomer Green Beret and former Seahawk Nate Boyer concerned by the same rumors contacted the players and found just the opposite is being planned. He tweeted today, "what the team will do is a powerful sign of unification respecting the flag and those that fight for our freedom".

Putting this bogus story to rest once and for all I hope, the New York City Police Department visited the Seahawks practice field today on the way to the Peace Arch at the border for a 9/11 event. Of course they had a warm friendly welcome by the Seahawks. Here in Seahawks territory there is no indication that there is going to be anything but a honorable demonstration by the Seahawks for the Flag and National Anthem.

Sad that phony news sights twisted this into something totally opposite, and flooded social media with lies which spread like wildfire.

Thanks for the update.  I certainly hope the team or even more than a few members do something stupid especially on the 15 anniversary of 9/11.

FWIW I see so many of these phony and sensationalist “news” sites, some posted here at times, even more often on TOS and on FB, etc. They take a kernel of truth but then add speculation and opinion passed off as facts and then a sensational and untruthful headline that doesn’t match the source material from which they cribbed as I noted up thread.

Their motive? Perhaps just to get more clicks and hence the ad revenues (and in a few cases, a way to distribute malware to unsuspecting web surfers), but I think some are intended to get the gullible to believe and then re-post it as a way of making, especially conservatives, look stupid and given to falling for untruths and conspiracy theories.

Please, please people, check your sources before sharing. If the article quotes a reputable (or at least main stream news source) check that source first to see if it matches, if important facts were left out or things were added that are unsourced. Check to see if it has been reported on by other news sources, sources that don’t quote and link back to the same phony site.  And be leery of sites that have “BREAKING” in front of ever story or words like EPIC!, SHOCKING! and “You won’t believe what happens next” and ends all posts with “Please share this on all Social Media!”

Finally check other “articles” posted on the site to see if they are also sensationalist, if their headlines don’t match the source material and or are outright false or misleading.

It’s hard enough to fact check the MSM.

The envy started that Thursday Night in 2014 when Sherman and Wilson were served  Thanksgiving Dinner right on the SF Logo mid field after beating the 49ers in their stadium.   Been down hill ever since for Kaep.

And as for Sherman, he is nothing like what they try to make him out to be.  He can be intimidating on the field and that is what you would want in a corner, but off the field and watching him in practice he's a class guy, very smart, very approachable, and funny as hell.   I live near their practice facility.

I'm finding this whole protest thing incredibly ironic since the NFL worshiped LGBT to the point where they fined and suspended a player for disagreeing. I'd like to stick them in a time machine. Put them a block or two from ground zero so they can see the towers come down, smell the smells of fire , smoke and get covered head to toe in smoke and ash. I don't want them to get hurt,  mind you, but I want them to hear the screams, see the survivors running out, and how nice everyone was that day and the few days after when the whole city was color blind and no one cared what color or religion you were it was people helping people.

I want them to see the missing posters all over the city like you put up missing dog and cat posters that tugged your heart.

I don't want people to forget the sights, the sounds or the smells- and the dirt from the smoke and ash. These idiots need a dose of realty.

I'm sorry if I seem upset, kind folks. This just makes me want to cry for my friends who died that day and the brave firefighters who tried to save them, not to mention those who still have nightmares and what not from it. 15 years seems like yesterday.

And Jeremy Lane (who sat last game's anthem), his Mom in an interview said she talked with her son and that he and all of them will participate and that it will honor the flag and 9/11. Rumor has it that the players will be standing and locking arms with different races during the national anthem. I.e., Black-white-Pacific Islander-etc. Now that I think about it, the team is made up of black, white and Pacific Islanders.
But in any case it does sound honorable, and the BS talk about them doing a mass sit down needs to stop. It was still going on as of last night on some late night talk radio show. Made me sick people making nasty disgusting comments without knowing any facts. Even here in WA, some mayor canceled the his town's Seahawk Rally they normally hold opening weekend in protest of "the Seahawks sitting down during the anthem". And that was just reported this morning.    Has the world gone completely insane?  Are we trusting too much what we read on social media and not doing any fact finding ourselves? In a video released Saturday, receiver Doug Baldwin said the Seahawks' players will stand and lock arms prior to Sunday's regular season opener against Miami in a show of unity. In a video he released via his Twitter page, Baldwin said specifically that the team will “stand and interlock arms in unity” during the national anthem. Quarterback Russell Wilson later Tweeted the same thing using the using the same “BuildABridge” hashtag as Baldwin.
