Sorry, but Jesse Lee Peterson is weird.  I never got why anybody follows him.
Tokenism. Nothing more, nothing less.

Ah, forget it. They're not listening, and they don't care.

The Trump caucus keeps on repeating the Big Lie, insisting they're entitled to an endorsement. It's just another example of their big-government, authoritarian mindset that makes them so dangerous.

There was a time not so long ago when decent people would have rejected Trump for his behavior pledge or no pledge.

Our culture and society are degenerating rapidly and too many so called "Conservatives" are embracing it.

Did Trump ask for forgiveness?

“If I do something wrong, I think I just try to make it right," Trump said. "I don't bring God into that picture. I don't.

"When we go into church — and when I drink my little wine, which is about the only wine I drink, and have my little cracker — I guess that is a form of asking for forgiveness. I do that as often as possible because I feel cleansed, OK?

He also mentions the NVP book The Power of Positive Thinking several times, but not even once, The Bible.

The 5th commandment says (in modern English): "Honor your father and and your Mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you."

How could Ted Cruz endorse Trump, and then go look his Father in the eye?

Now let me get this straight, the Trumpanzees expect a person on one side of a contract is supposed to abide by the agreement even after the fellow on the other side of the table essentially tears up and throws it in the toilet while verbally denying its validity?

OK, I got it now.

On the matter of endorsement, Ted Cruz operated under the assumption that all of the candidates were gentlemen, in the sense that Richard Weaver explain a gentleman in “Ideas Have Consequences”

Quote
Weaver does not entirely disapprove of the gentleman; he is the replacement for the philosophic doctor, minus the religious foundation. Great interest in the liberal arts in the time of Sir Thomas More, Rabelais, and Thomas Elyot appeared and was relied on to provide the broad understanding and moral character the gentleman needed but would not receive from the bosom of the church. The gentleman was an idealist, brought up to live by a code of ethics and proper sentiment, though, lacking the grounding in religion he needed, he was only a partial replacement for the doctor of philosophy.

Still, as long as the West could hold on to a gentleman class, there was some protection for the transmission of tradition and culture. If their ideal was imperfect and not always realized, the very existence of such a class as an ideal out-weighed any disadvantages. By far, Weaver says, the most significant aspect of the idea of a gentleman is his distrust of specialization.

Weaver develops the idea and the elevation of the specialist (and Trump is a prime example of one) in his book, which is being discussed on the Worldview/Anthropology board.

All my neighbors these days are elderly southerners from Texas, Alabama, and Kentucky. Their opinions as southern gentlemen is unanimous that Trump is somewhere beneath a good coonhound and slightly superior to a possum.

It reminds me of Zell Miller suggesting to Chris Matthews that he needed to be taken out behind the woodshed and whooped till he learned to respect women. (Matthews had said something nasty to Michelle Malkin) :patriot:

Zell Miller spoke at the GOP convention that year and didn't promote socialism.

Years ago, I read Robert J. Ringer's Winning Through Intimidation. If I had to pick anything which reminded me of Trump, that book sums it up.

Like have people finish the work, plus add-ons, and not get paid? Sounds like a business model...
