Explosion strikes large demonstration march in Afghanistan capital
Kabul: An explosion struck a large demonstration march in the Afghan capital, Kabul, on Saturday, causing multiple casualties, according to officials and witnesses.
Afghan health officials put the death toll at 61, and said that more than 160 people were injured in the blast. A Daesh outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack, an Afghan official said.
Saturday's explosion came as ethnic Hazaras rallied to demand that a major regional electric power line be routed through their impoverished home province. Most Hazaras are Shiite Muslims but most Afghans are Sunni.
