@Slide Rule Besides all the Jews the Nazi's murdered,let's not forget all the Germans of all races they murdered. If you were a petty criminal,a communist,opposed to the Nazi reign for any reason,permanently handicapped either physically or mentally,or just managed to piss off some Nazi official for ANY "reason",it was "off to the labor camps for you!"
The only exceptions were those who had mental/emotional problems,or who were physically handicapped for pretty much any reason. Those unfortunate people went off to the Nazi hospital where they were used as test dummies for medical experiments.
Also,don't forget the Nazi's and the Soviets were allies right up to the moment that the Nazi's invaded Russia. They were allies because they had so much in common. Hitler and the Nazi's needed the oil fields the Soviets controlled,so they invaded to take them.
Suddenly,the Soviets became immediate allies of the Western Powers,and all of the western world started shipping them all sorts of supplies for free,right down to food and weapons.
It was at this EXACT moment that Communism was no longer evil and a danger to personal freedoms. The ones that immigrated to the US,mostly to Mn and other yankee states started coming out of the closet and holding marches,creating or taking over labor unions,and getting voted into public off in places other than Mn. After all they were our allies,so what could go wrong,right?
