What to they do to the sign when the price goes up to $10.00 per gallon?

Good question.  Probably go to a skinnier font type face.

That looks photoshopped. The price increments exactly 1 cent down the sign.

When the price went over $1 they changed to charging by the half gallon which lowered the price 'till they changed the machines/signs.

Back in the '70's when it crossed the $1 threshold they just put zeros in its place. $1.09/gallon = .09/gallon

They pick an alternative volume measure like a quart or a liter.
Besides it will seem more economical.

I'm looking at all the years each politician has been in government; if ever there was a case for term limits, this is it.

Or perhaps go to something even smaller - like a tablespoon or  a cup.

There is nothing hostile about it. They are doing it with the permission and even at the insistence of the professional welfare classes ,including the welfare parasites on Wall Street.

Everybody involved is allowed to get a little "taste of the profits",and "Me,me,ME,DAMMIT is the only one they care about.

It's all about selfish self-interest.

@Slide Rule

You obviously don't own and drive a diesel pu,or that wouldn't be anything new to you.

I am to the point now where I only fill my tank up half-way,and then look for cheaper prices per gallon as I am going places so I can finish filling up. Saved 80 cents a gallon doing that last week.  Yeah,it was only slightly more than a half-tank,but that's better than nothing. At a minimum,it's a couple of paid for lunches.

I'm pondering that as I look at my 2 Liter bottle of Pepsi and the 500 mL bottles of water.

I got a couple Jerry Cans for gas, and they are not 5 gallon, they're 20 Liters.

Well the bitumen coming from the Alberta Tar sands was supposed to replace the heavy crude from Venezuela after the Socialists "nationalized" their oil and drove the westerners with the tools and tech out.

But some idiot shut down the pipeline that was going to carry it south.

You misspelled 'treasonous bastard'.
