Are you trying to win elections or save the country from terminal decline? If you continue to pander to the shallow wishes of an ignorant electorate, you get nowhere. You have the likes of Mitch McConnell, who do all the Democrats' bidding and act like they're being effective. They're not.

There is no path in the current electorate to save the country from its descent. We've already fallen too far: broken families, welfare dependency, foreign invasion, court rulings dictating what rights we can and cannot have. How is a single 30-year-old woman who comes from divorced parents going to understand the value of true marriage? How are kids who grew up on food stamps going to understand how to earn a living? This is modern America: crumbling at its seams.

I know. It is awful. The glass is half empty for sure, and we are doomed. Just as we have been for centuries.

During the 1800s Scandinavia and Ireland suffered crop failures, huge dissatisfaction with their governments, etc. So in the case of Scandinavia, 1/4 of the people sold their worldly goods, and got themselves on over to North America.

Once on the continent, they got themselves into the middle, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, the Dakota Territory. Etc.

Back in the old country Sweden-Norway were a unified Kingdom at the time, they took stock and put changes into motion.

Today Sweden and Norway are among the most prosperous, most free countries on this spinning mud ball which we call God's Earth.

For some others, the glass is half full. Or simply full.

You put it well.

There are upside thinkers and downside thinkers.  There are more downside thinkers in the conservative ranks than upside thinkers.

So where are we supposed to flee? Every other plot of land on the planet is taken, except perhaps Antarctica and nothing grows there.''

Meanwhile, Sweden and Norway are welfare states.
