Off-topic, I realize, but...
OK, old Relic. You begged the question.
Exactly -what- do you see and hear around you?
Inquiring minds wish to know.
Nothing conclusive, but I am in Ohio, and I have a wide variety of friends and associates. I have yet to hear one person admit that they'd vote for Donald Trump. Obviously, I don't know everyone in Ohio, and there will be votes cast for Trump. However, my slice of Ohio gives me a decent read on where the state is going. I was sure it would be Obama in 2008, and thought it would be Obama again in 2012, (but closer).
Trump is too much of a showman, and not enough of a statesman. While people hate politicians, they don't want a carnival barker as president. It's been said before, Trump evokes memories of Gov. Jesse Ventura.
Remember, people hate politicians, and want them all thrown out, except for their guy. Their guy is the only good one, hence incumbents are often re-elected. What I'm saying is that anti-establishment sentiment only goes so far. I will be as shocked as anyone if there is a president Donald Trump.
