In every town large enough to have two traffic lights there is a bar at the back of which sits the local Donald Trump, nursing his fifth beer and innumerable delusions. Because the actual Donald Trump is wealthy, he can turn himself into an unprecedentedly and incorrigibly vulgar presidential candidate. It is his right to use his riches as he pleases. His squalid performance and its coarsening of civic life are costs of freedom that an open society must be prepared to pay.

When, however, Trump decided that his next acquisition would be not another casino but the Republican presidential nomination, he tactically and quickly underwent many conversions of convenience (concerning abortion, health care, funding Democrats, etc.). His makeover demonstrates that he is a counterfeit Republican and no conservative.

In the Cleveland debate, Donald Trump refused to commit to support whomever the Republican Party nominates in 2016.

Trump would be wise to maintain his freedom of action.

For there is a plot afoot in The Washington Post Conservative Club to purge Trump from the Republican Party before the primaries begin.

“A political party has a right to … secure its borders,” asserts the Post’s George Will, “a duty to exclude interlopers.” Will wants The Donald “excommunicated” and locked out of all GOP debates until he kneels and takes a loyalty oath to the nominee.

Having Trump in the republican presidential primary certainly has exposed some –maybe all– of the establishment GOP as being as governmental as the Left.

They wish to silence Trump on politically correct grounds. Sounds like speech is under attack from the George Wills and Michael Gersons of the Party.

That's the only example to which I was aware.  "Stammering cipher"?  Who would say such a thing? 

As was suggested, he may have sipped too much alcohol.

Well I like baeball too, and why not being a life long Cardinals fan I've been amply rewarded, but to me Will got a little silly about it.

Well, you can enjoy the hell out of baseball from outside the lines.  Will likes to think in the abstract.

And as I've said here before, baseball can be enjoyed on many, many different levels.

Would love to hear his assessment of these anemic NATS.  We've got 5 starters hitting from .186 to .226.  And they don't like walks.
