Just over a week after Fox confirmed the revival of The X-Files, David Duchovny has revealed who will be joining him and fellow returning lead Gillian Anderson.

The 54-year-old actor - who starred in the sci-fi franchise from 1993 to 2002 - appeared on CBS' The Late Show to chat with host David Letterman on Tuesday, when he shared the first casting news from the forthcoming series, which will be returning as a six episode event this summer.

The two-time Golden Globe winner announced that two fan favorite characters will be reprising their roles also noting: 'It's a strange phenomenon that people still want to see those characters.'
